the long bracket that comes with it as an option is only designed to attach to the mirror bolt.

ok i had the previous design it was pretty good I liked the price and that it charged my phone it served me well till one of the arms broke they were plastic. the new arms are metal certainly an upgrade. the old model had to be closed by hand by turning a wheel, the new model has a trigger that closes the arms automatically, another upgrade. the previous model did not come with a inline fuse for circuit protection the new does, good job. the one thing that kept me from giving 5 stars was in the description it says it will fit handle bars to 1.3 inches NOT! The clamp I got will not open to 1.25 inches it will barley go 1" the old model was perfect in this area, so I had to coble together a clamp from old parts i saved and made it work so beware.
Feels secure and charges my phone.

I like the price... It was much less expensive than the alternatives. I also like the ratcheting mechanism that holds the device in place. The way it closes in from all corners equally, centers your device over the charger and holds it tightly in place. I didn't use the provided handlebar mount but it looks like it would work without issue. I'll keep it as a backup for other devices in the future. I used the standard RAM Mount that I had already installed along with the RAM Mount 3" arm. It worked fine with this. The ball on this and the included handlebar mount is slightly smaller than that of a RAM Mount, FYI.
My only issue was the way it connects to the bike. The way it is sold, it is truly universal, but a little more difficult to install because of this. You'll want to install it onto a switched circuit. I spliced mine into a 12v outlet I have installed. But if you had to I suppose you could use the headlight relay or something. Nothing too difficult, but something I imagine some people would be wary of.
All in all, I like it.
I cannot attest to its durability but I suppose time will tell.

I have the older style which I really like. Thus is the update but their updates are downgrades not upgrades. The way it mounts to the bike now sucks and the adjustment to orient the phone won't tighten tight enough to keep the phone still. I'd still buy it over the other options due to the way the phone actually goes into the charger and how well it does charge.
