1 ding for packaging. Maybe it works faster without the paper cover, tbd, but without a cover the contents are not secure. I use this in my camper trailer and have to remember to remove it before I take off, otherwise I'll have a big fat mess to clean up. I prefer the former packaging which worked just fine. Also, there is most certainly an alternative material they could use that would both secure the contents and dehumidify the air. Finally, I'm disappointed that I didn't get a reply to my constructive complaint to the manufacturer about the new design.
Moisture Removal for small spaces

Product works well for closets that get moldy or accumulate moisture. Amazon had the best deal found but noticed a small difference between what has been sold in home improvement and Amazon. Amazon items were missing a ventilated cover. this allows for the absorbers material to spill out when tipped on its side, where-as home improvements have this barrier. Also, half the Damp Ride containers where broken, the plastic screen inside the container that keeps the absorber material from laying at the bottom. Overall looks like everything was shoved into the container with no regards to functionality. Next time I'll buy at the home center again as the Amazon product was worth the small savings.

I have a 24 gun safe that I moved from one house to another. The new house has baseboard heat which makes the house humid I suppose, and within a month or so one of the rifles in the safe rusted up pretty good. From there on out I decided to put a legitimate water separator in my safe to keep moisture out. If it's big enough for closets and boats and things, this will be big enough for a safe. I get about a year out of a single 18 oz unit. I never thought I'd pull that much moisture out of the air of a safe. The rifles have never rusted again, there is no moisture in the safe and I'm confident in these units to keep it that way.
