Ice-only side IS great, but velcro came broken.

These get nice and cold and fit great around my ankle and my calf. After having a significant surgery on my ankle, I'm so thankful I was told by a friend to get these! I love that they come in a 2 pack as I could wrap one around my ankle and one up a little higher and on the other side to hit the top and bottom of my ankle. I am disappointed that the velcro was broken upon arrival, but I can sew it when I don't need them to be frozen. I don't use the velcro anyway as I need the "ice only side" for now to touch my bandages and go through them. The side with fabric is too thick and I dont feel the cold through my bandages. It would be nice if the velcro were on both sides so you could use them both ways! One way to secure the ice-only side after surgery and then the other way to secure the ice to our skin when we don't need it to go through bandages. This is why I gave it a 3 across the board because I haven't been able to feel it on the fabric side and because it arrived with the velcro coming apart at the seams.

I recently developed a bone spur in my heel. I needed to ice it on a regular basis and was finding that putting ice in a ziploc always caused a mess and was hard to keep it on the heel. A friend recommended something like this so I went to find one on Amazon. These are filled with a gel and have a felt side that you can put against your skin. The gel freezes well and lasts for a good 20 minutes of ice on a spot. Strapping them on is easy and they stay in place.

I recently broke my leg and cracked my ankle bone and I was looking for an ice pack to continue to manage swelling (3 weeks post surgery).
I had hoped for just a little more from theee ice packs"¦If only they were a bit bigger. I'm only 5ft 3", 130lbs, size 7 feet - I'm not that big of a woman and my swelling is actually minimal but the ice packs are just that little bit too small to truly wrap your ankle as shown in the photo. On a full size man I don't think these would cut it at all.
On the upside, they freeze nicely and stay cold for long enough (15-20mins is all you need at any time for icing) and the Velcro strap is large enough to help them stay in place. The soft covering side is comfortable too. And of course the price point means I'll make them work.

I have bought several of these and use them every day. They always fail in the same way after a couple of months of use, and I start finding little cold squishy bubbles all over my house. On the clear plastic side, at the ends of the heat seal the plastic opens up so there are quite a few places where this can happen. If both sides were made of the 'fabric' rather than plastic it would be a much better product. The first time, I threw it out, but then I realized I could patch with duct tape. Still, once it breaks, it keeps happening in different places and you might only get another month or so of use after many applications of tape. Otherwise I love this. The contour, the velcro, it's so easy to use. So much better than frozen peas or the flat gel pack (too wide and too short) that you have to strap on with an ace bandage.
