The pump does not have the lift/throughput that I expected. The hose that came with it was too flimsy and kept kinking. So I put on a different hose and got it working for a small fountain.

Highly recommend this little pump for any of your small pumping needs. It's actually a really powerful so it would work well for an outdoor fountain provided that the pump is protected. Or really anything where you would need a small pump to quickly move a volume of water.
I actually use this thing for my 40 gallon fish tank whenever I need to do water changes or take water out of it or even put water in it. It makes very quick work and comes with a long tube and two adapters. But the connected cord is not very long so an extension cord might be needed for far away pumping.

The media could not be loaded. This is a great solution for having continuous water flow from the top of our water table! The hose is plenty long enough - I keep it in place with a hair claw. Theres enough power to provide water flow through the entire top. No noise from it at all - you only hear the waterfall! I'm extremely pleased with this purchase.
Side note- the hose was kinked in several places from being packed in the little box it came in, but they have since buffed out with use.
