EDIT: OK ACTUALLY THIS IS GREAT I JUST NEEDED TO PUT THE DONGLE IN A DIFFERENT USB SLOT ON MY SHIELD LOL...GREAT KODI REMOTE!

This is my second one of these. My first lasted about 2 years of daily use even after it took a full cup of coffee spill directly on top of the keys. It gave me little to no trouble. This n ew one however, is nearly worthless. After about 2 hours of trying to use it I had to retire it from service because it blows chunks. This thing will lose connection to the dongle from 10', 8', wherever it doesn't matter, it just loses connection partially. Then when it's lost connection partially and you push anything it goes buck frickin wild. How about volume all the way up or all the way down? Seven thousand spaces to the left please. Yes thanks. Wow. What a great keyboard not.

This little thing... man we have had not great luck with remotes like this... we have a PC hooked up to our main TV and needed a remote to, you know, use the TV as a TV with the computer... anyhow, our last remote was atrocious and this one was rated pretty well so we bought one. It is ok. The touchpad is very touchy. There are a few buttons in places that are a little frustrating (for example, my husband constantly accidentally hits the power off button that shuts down the entire computer with the side of one hand)... my main complaint with this one is that the bluetooth connection is a bit wonky and you need to turn it off and on again frequently in order to get the remote to actually do what you want it to do (the cursor will jump around frantically and select whatever it wants if you don't). So it does work, with a few quirks.

I had been using a Logitech K400Plus with my Toshiba Fire Edition TV. Useful but awkward to have to pull out on the rare cases I need it. I then saw someone list a remote like this one with their FireTV and thought I'd give it a try. Pro tip while I'm here; the TV has a single USB port but with a USB hub you can connect the included USB dongle and still be able to connect a game controller and USB storage without an issue.

For the most part this worked great. There are few apps where it doesn't work perfectly like the normal remote will work. For example in Paramount+ if I go to a listing of a TV show where it has menu options below like Episodes, Extras, and whatever else while I can move to those options for some reason the OK button doesn't get registered. In the Silk browser if I got a website and select the video to watch on some sites the OK button won't register when I click on the on-screen play button. I've tried most of the other buttons on the remote and still no go. Other than those sort of things I have no problem.

I tried this on an Insignia Roku TV. Nothing at all, which I'm not surprised by. Also tried it on a LG TV and got very limited functionality there, and again I'm not too surprised. I didn't try it on my Windows OS computer but I'm fairly sure it should be fine there. I know the Logitech keyboard, mentioned above, works, so I'm just guessing this will too.

Let's talk about battery life. The batter is listed as being a 300mAh. Which is ok. You can get, and I have just not tested as of yet, other batteries with high capacity and for very little expense.
Now the times I'm going to mention are not with this being use 24/7 this is just from the day I had it fully charged until it stopped. I used a spreadsheet to input the dates and times and let it calculate the result as a duration. Also these are based on me using this as daily driver remote for my TV.
With the backlighting on and set to blue the battery lasted around 92 hours. This is about 4 days of use.
With backlighting off it was about 350 hours or 16 days of use.
I kind of wish I had the battery life of the normal remote to compare it too, but that would take a very long time. I know I've gone several months with just a couple AAA batteries on that remote.
I now have a 1020mAh battery to extend the usefulness of the remote if I was to keep using it as a daily driver but my guess is that I would just 2-3 times the life of the included battery.
I kind of want to a test to see how long the battery last when the unit is switched on but isn't used, if for no other reason to see how useful and convenient it would to just leave it on and only using it when I really need to like for typing on the TV.

It's very comfortable to hold and use. I primarily use the D-pad and OK as well as the Back and Home for my daily use. So I can still one-hand it. Luckily I don't use the menu/options button all that much or the Play/Pause button because it's not easy to get to one-handed.

I do which the backlighting and trackpad being on, or off as the case maybe, was something the remote would remember when you turn remote off or replace the battery. It remembers what color you set the backlight to but that's it.

I kind of wish the on/off switch on the top or something on the side, and maybe make it a button, so it would be easier to turn it on and off.

I don't have any games on my TV so I have no idea how well it works with them. If I was going to be doing any gaming on my TV it would be with a console and it's controller.

If you have a Fire TV, Android TV, or a PC of some kind that you need a remote keyboard, and it has a USB port, then give this a try. I partly wish I had spent a bit more for a bluetooth version of this kind of remote, but I'm good with this.

Works on most newer devices. Doesn't light completely as advertised, it's only a square inch section!
