We purchased this compact microwave to replace our 10-year-old, equivalent Panasonic 900-watt microwave. Unfortunately, this Kenmore 900-watt microwave takes a minute longer to cook a bowl of oatmeal, so it makes me think the power capacity, or rating, is a lite 900-watts. The Kenmore has a good range of control settings, and it is a good value for the price, but I share with others who have complained that the interior light does not go on when you open the door; the light only goes on when cooking.

The only thing a don't like about this Kenmore microwave is there isn't enough support at the front. The door goes all the way to the bottom of the appliance; therefore, when you open the door, the whole microwave dips down. The front supports on the bottom could have been moved a little more forward to help stabilize the microwave.

I liked the old one (size, etc.) but this one has some bells and whistles that I really like. One notable plus is that I can see the food cooking much clearer than I can recall ever seeing with any microwave in past.
I initially bought a 1000 watt "Magic Chef" and returned it to Walmart after only 1 day. Ordered this Kenmore on Amazon and really glad I did. Arrived 5 days earlier than quoted/estimated.

The microwave itself works great and the light turns on while it is running. I saw where some people had an issue with the light not coming on when it is running, but mine works fine. My only beef with this microwave is that there were some scratches in the black plastic around the face of the microwave. Purely cosmetic issue, but it would have been nice to receive a NEW microwave without scratches. It wasn't enough of an issue for me to return it though.
