Great for old dudes

My 8 year old son did a BMX race camp. After watching him race around the track I started remembering riding when I was a kid. Realizing that BMX has adult divisions I knew I had to give it a try. After a lot of research I decided on this Mongoose Title 24. It was great right out of the box. Quick assembly and I was on the track. I am 44 years old and 6' tall, the 24 inch tires were much appreciated. Entering my first race this weekend.
Race-Ready at sub-23 pounds

The highlights of this are the frame and forks. I thought I would probably need higher bars because I'm 6'1", but these worked out fine. When I started riding, I was quite heavy (270), and the cassette hub started making popping noises. (I've already lost 30 pounds.) The cassette hub never skipped within the first 2 months of riding, but the noises were getting progressively worse. The back hub seems like a Black Ops with no labels. The rear hub has sealed bearings, but on the drive side, there was only one nut and no lock nut. If you tightened the rear axle, that's probably OK, but the bearings were a bit tighter than they needed to be. The KMC chain was an econo model and stretched in a relatively fast time in about 2 months. The rims are like V rims. I don't know where anyone would buy those separately. The rims are working out fine. They seem fairly wide and are 31mm wide on the inside of the rims. I'm not having any problems with the cranks or the stem. I didn't have a bike and am a returning rider to the sport, so the whole package (with pedals added) was race-ready. Then as some of the parts mentioned wore out, I could upgrade it the way I wanted to. The whole original bike with Time ATAC pedals was under 23 pounds which was impressive. The BB height is 12.5" which works fine for me on modern tracks. On an old school track I liked a lower BB, but I didn't have any problems. The back-end of the frame seems very sturdy in the dropout area. The front hub seems very durable and working fine. They gave some attention to details. I like that they did 32 spoke holes on the front, and 36 hole on the rear wheel. Many parts have black color. For the price range I'd give it 5 stars because the frameset is good, and I can upgrade it as I like when I have the money.
This is MY bike.

I'm 5'11", 240. I wanted a BMX, even though I'm 46. That's what I always liked to ride back in the daytime. I don't want a 24" cruiser BMX.
I'm elated with this purchase. This bike will last decades. I won't have to get another bike if I don't want to. It fits me just fine (21.75" top tube on the XXL version). It doesn't feel small, it feels like the perfect BMX for a really tall youngster or a big old, big-body cat like me. Public service announcement: you're not supposed to spend too much time on the uncomfortable seat it comes with, you ride a BMX standing on the pedals for speed, shock absorbtion, balance, and all that. I still bought a seat and a layback seat post (27.2mm) for when I get tired. You don't need a tool to adjust the seat height.
I want to ride this thing all the time. It's TOO fun. And it looks so good (the stickers were easy to remove).
This bike is worth the money. Knowing what I know now, this has got to be the best value out there for a brand new bicycle. This Chinese factory is the real deal. I had to send a Diamondback back before taking a chance on this 'goose.
A few upgrades and this Mongoose Title Elite 24 is legit.

My needs for a bike, I'm 6'1 - 215lbs revisiting BMX racing and pump tracks. Looking around set my budget between $500-700 for a bike. After giving the Mongoose Title Elite 24 a serious look, and finding one open box on Amazon for a discount. Decided to give it a try knowing a few things. The included bars have a rise of 6.5 inches - I know I need 8.5 inches. The front chainring is 42T, prefer 44T. You will want pedals as the included ones are plastic, not trustworthy for pump tracks. After $120 in upgrades, my preference. Have a very solid bike for under $560. The bike is quick to assembly and feels really nice to ride. After owning for a week, see this being a quick and nimble bike for the track. At 6'1 and the proper size bars installed, the bike doesn't feel too short. Actually feels kind of snappy.

Was looking for a complete race ready bike with quality components for $400-$600. After some shopping around and reading reviews this one seemed to be the best deal. It arrived quickly with no damage or missing parts. It's mostly assembled and the rest of the assembly is rather easy with some basic tools most everyone has at home. After looking over the quality of the parts and taking It out on a few rides I'd say this is an excellent bike that's basically ready to race right out of the box. I gave it a 4 but it's probably more like a 4.5 but that's not an option. The deduction is for 5 issues I had 4 of which are mostly minor complaints. 1st issue I had was the brake handle. It's really long like you'd see on a motorcycle. Besides being a little unnecessary added weight it's also something that could get bent or broken in a crash or perhaps caught on another rides pants or shirt in a close racing situation. It works fine but I will be replacing it. 2nd the seat pole is too short for casual street riding. It's padded for street riding but way too short and at a funny angle. The should've either made it slightly longer or just saved putting padding on It that's just more added weight that's unnecessary. 3rd issue is the chain seems pretty flimsy and cheap. It works fine again and may be no issue for most people but it too will be replaced. 4th issue is being an aluminum frame they should've included chain tensioners. Any ruder that rides hard is going to have issues with the chain creeping up which could lead to a popped chain plus It will shred the hell out of the aluminum when It does. This was noted by many others and I resolved it by ordering the tensioners at the same time I ordered the bike. The 5th and last issue was the only one that I'd consider a major issue. The pedals that come with the bike are complete junk. They're plastic and don't spin freely at all. I was never going to use the stock pedal anyway as I have clipless pedals but nobody should use those pieces of junk. Just expect to buy pedals for this bike if you don't already have an extra pair. They really should use a better set of metal platform pedals on a race bike designed for a larger rider. One other thing for taller riders the top tube on the Pro XL is only 21.25" instead of the usual 21.5" so if you're over 5'11" you'll probably want to go with the Pro XXL. Overall this is a great bike for this price definitely an incredible value and I would recommend It to anyone looking for a ready to race bike that won't break the bank. Can buy It on the 6 month EZ pay plan for only around $90 a month which is what I opted to do. Hope the review wasn't too long and was helpful.
