The product does what it is supposed to do. A head scratcher though is that the directions show examples of how it is used. One of the drawings shows it horizontally pulling a boat onto shore. But the warnings say to only use it as a hoist, not a winch. I am using it as a winch to pull horizontally.

This is a great addition to the garage. I decided to build a rack to store my kayaks that would lift up to the ceiling out of the way and drop down when I need them. I am using this hoist with a few pulleys to lift the rack up where I can then lock it so the hoist doesn't need to hold it all of the time.
