Best bang for your buck

Arrived 90% assembled. Includes all the tools to finish assembly witch took about 20 min. Quiver is easily detachable and holds bolts tightly. Scope is decent and has adjustment for eye relief. Even came with a sling which was something I wasn't expecting. Only downside is the cdx modle doesn't have an adjustable cheek rest but according to bear customer support it will accept any ar buttstock. For less than $500 you can't go wrong with this crossbow.
Think about the whole picture before buying.

I love the bow but with the way bear has their bolts set up you have no way of using lighted nocks. Then if you go with another brand of bolts to use the lighted nocks you take the chance of something happening and voiding your warranty.

After reading a lot of reviews, I was a little nervous cocking this crossbow after I had it assembled. This nervousness quickly went away after slinking a few bolts down range. This bow is quite smooth and blazing fast. The narrow width will make it very useful from a climbing tree stand when deer hunting. The only negative is the 9# weight but I can work with that. I work in the hunting retail world an can honestly say Bear gas really upped their game!

Excuse me I don't know what happened to your bear constrictor crossbow but it could be something that you did to miss handle it. My bear constrictor crossbow is awesome. It took minutes to sight it in and once I made minor Corrections it's one of the best bows I've ever own. I shot a deer at about 30 yards and when I went to retrieve my deer I stepped into the woods I could see where she was laying. Everybody has their own opinion but mine is this is one awesome crossbow.
