Bought a new computer which unfortunately no longer come with CD drives. Since I have tons of data backups on cd and also lots of movies; I had to buy a player. So far it is great. Lasted 1 year of minimal use then all of a sudden, it doesn't read discs. I tried doing a firmware update but nothing is working. I've done some tests and it's definitely not reading the CDs/DVDs. The bottom of it is very strange and it has a lot of movement on most surfaces. Go with a different drive"¦

It works fine, just make sure and connect directly to the MacBook, otherwise it will be too slow.
