There are no instructions. I only managed to set the alarm (which is what I needed) because of online information, but I can't find any method to turn off the auto-off, which is the only thing stopping this from being 5 stars for me.

Simple to use, and seemingly accurate, though I have nothing to calibrate it with, but the readings seem about right. We wanted to measure the noise from a nearby venue, and for the price, it was a no-brainer.
I wish it could go lower than 30 dB

30 dB is really not that low, ambient background noise in a quiet room can easily go lower than that. If you are trying to check the loudness of something like a fan, only going as low as 30 can be an issue.
As long as you are checking the loudness of things in a much more moderate level, this works great though.
