I bought this product along with several other fire starters for a review I'll be putting out on YouTube. I have completed just about all my tests with this one. I still have to test it while it's wet. But here's what I found so far.

The product is very light to carry, just 2 ounces I believe. But that meant it's a rather small can. Not the end all be all but at $13, I was hoping for more. I pulled out enough of the gooey mixture to be about the size of a quarter. Maybe a little bigger. Fluffed it to expose the threads and grabbed my ferro rod. It light on the 2nd strike and burned for 3:35 minutes. I performed the test again and this time it lit on the first strike and burned for 4:11 minutes. The burn time isn't terrible but the advertise a 15 minute burn. That didn't happen for me. So, all in all a good product that I believe you can rely on to get tour fire lit.

Pros: Lights easily, has a decent burn time, and is extremely lightweight (great to toss in the backpack).
Cons: burn time not as good as some other products and cost for the amount received.
Came in a bag rather than a tin can.

Came in a bag rather than a tin can. Not a big deal it works really well. I would rather have the can for storage purposes in my hunting pack. The bag may come open.

Expensive, but Works

1. This stuff is expensive in any form, especially more so in 0.5oz mini-tins. For me, the 2oz is "bulk supply" and the mini-tin is an all-weather backup fire starter in my fire kit that can be refilled from the 2oz.
2. It does ignite relatively easily when "stretched/webbed" for filaments with, say, a BIC, match, or Arc Lighter; typically need a bigger area "target" for easily igniting with a Ferrocerium rod or sparker of some sort, but that's more the less directed nature of the sparks.
3. The stuff works as a fire starter, and if you use a tiny amount and smear/stretch it on the tip of a fuzz stick, it is both easy to ignite and makes that stick a tinder-torch stick in to ignite the tinder in your fire lay. Sure, you can pinch off a bigger chunk, and it will burn longer, but the idea is to most easily and quickly ignite something that then ignites something else harder to ignite and longer burning that in turn ignites your tinder that burns long enough to ignite your kindling that in turn ignites your firewood. ... You get the idea, it's a chain reaction thing, so if done right you prepare so that you don't really need a big gob of this expensive stuff.
4. Even if damp or in the rain a stretched strand of this does ignite and continue to burn... this is an advantage over a home made Cotton-Vaseline starter whose filaments easily wet-out.
5. The 0.5oz tins are acceptable in size/weight for a backpacker to tuck into a fire-kit as an all-weather emergency fire-starter, relying first on, say, home-made Cotton-Vaseline starters, fatwood, or wood scrapings to easily ignite campfires for far less cost of starter. As such, a mini makes a nice gift for a Backpacker. The big 2oz can is arguably too big and heavy for many backpackers to want to carry - YMMV. I use the 2oz as the bulk supply for a 0.5oz tin of the same stuff that I keep as that emergency fire-starter.
6. User testing I've watched suggests the Green Eco, which has citronella oil, seems to burn longest when these starters are used in an equally sized lump... the "stiffer" winter Blue burned up quicker and the "looser" summer Orange burned up even quicker.
6. This stuff does not really "Glow In the Dark" (it doesn't "absorb" light, then glow by itself), rather this stuff fluoresces in UV "blacklight". Of course while all the types fluoresce, the Green tends to be most visible, then the Orange, then the Blue... but who uses a UV light to walk about in the woods at night, or has one to actually utilize the material as a trail marker? Still, yes, if you stick a gob of Orange or Green on a tree (or even Blue) and smear it around, you've marked the tree... don't know how many trees you can mark with 2oz. I carry a 1" diameter tightly wound "spool" of trail marking tape for that kind of thing... 6" of that stuck on a twig will flutter, too, getting attention.
Easy to Ignite...Big Flame!

This is the first time I have tried a product from Pyro Putty but it won't be the last. I got shipped the combo pack with the Plasma Lighter. Both products worked very well.

The Lighter creates two bright purple arcs that ignite the Pyro Putty with ease. It seems to be well made and has an o-ring type seal under the cap that locks down making it waterproof. When the battery gets low you simply recharge it with an included USB cable. It is stated in the literature that a fully charged lighter is good for up to 300 ignitions. Pretty impressive.

The Pyro Putty I used was the Winter Blue one. It was easy to pull off a buckshot size piece and place it on a stick. After I ignited it with the plasma lighter it burned for a solid 2 minutes and produced a flame that was 4 to 5 inches long. It burned clean and steady the whole time which was more than enough to get the rest of the wood burning great. Easiest fire starter I have ever used.

The can that the Pyro Putty comes in makes for easy storage. Even with the small sized can you could probably start 30 - 40 fires with it using small pieces. I found it amazing that such a small piece burned so long and hot. No reason why you could not get a fire going with this stuff. The fact that it is waterproof also is a big plus.

Great survival gear and top notch customer service. A well made product that works as it should.
