I have a 2109 RAM 2500, this bed extender installed as the oem one. The additional mounting brackets were not needed, matter of fact the BL installed as it was removed from the shipping box. I drilled the 3 holes for each side on the vertical bed rails as the 3 holes were already pre-punched from RAM. Mounted the L&R brackets using the 3 screws each for each support. The was even better than the OEM BE due to not being undersized on either side. I would recommend this over the OEM RAM BE. Installation average take about an hour. The only tools need is the 9/64 drill bit, phillips screwdriver. The nylon straps perfectly pushed into either side of the tailgate, no mods required. Cost was about $125.00 LESS then the OEM one.

Great product. Clear instructions. Very easy to follow. Paint scratches easily if drop so be aware of that.

The screws do tend to sheer if you apply too much torque. The drill bit could be a touch larger or you may need to bore out the hole a touch prior to screwing the pintail point on.

It was simple to assemble. The paper templates were very helpful especially since my 2019 Ram did not have the typical 'dimple' marks in the tailgate frame. The most difficult was screwing in the 'self tapping' hardware. These screw were very challenging to install. I managed to get them in, bit take your time, use a lot of pressure, and turn little at a time. DO NOT USE A DRILL to install the supplied self tapping screws - they will strip. Otherwise, the gate looks great and worked really well hauling two oversized loads. The pins and rubber caps (over the pivot joints) are useful - JUST BE CAREFUL NOT TO LOSE THEM. They are small and can easily be misplaced. But yeah 4 stars because the install was a bit difficult.

I have owned box extenders before on pickup trucks with toneau and hard covers. I find them to be a convenient way of keeping items in the box near the tailgate. I bought a 2003 Tundra SR5 and ordered a standard LEER 100XL topper as I needed to be able to leave the cover on. I am no longer not strong enough to lift the cover off and a topper fits my needs. I bought the box extender but couldn't determine if the topper would interfere with the extender flipping to extend the box. It currently does. SEE the third picture. When you flip the extender up, it will contact the stationary latch on the side of the topper. The extender will have to be removed by pulling the pins in the "hinges" of the extender. SEE picture 2. This can be done with the extender in the forward and down position. The extender can then be disengaged, slid out of the truck box, and reinstalled in the out position where the pins are re-installed. I have had to do this only once in the past 4 months that I have owned the truck. The hinges probably could be placed on a spacer and the width of the extender reduced to clear the stationary latch. I may do this later but the frequency of having to do this doesn't necessitate taking stuff apart and re-engineering the mount. Once I do, I may raise my rating to 5 star.
