We use these moisture probes just to get a general idea whether or not our potted plants and our lawn need watering. For that they work very well. When inserting into the ground be careful not to push too hard or you may bend the probe.

Actually tested it by placing in dry soil versus wet soil"¦ it works. Was having problem with our indoor plants"¦ turned out we were overwatering. Use this before you water.
