This filter was labelled compatible with my old filters but it is smaller in diameter than the Watkins 31489 by 1/2 inch. It claims to have better filter material but it will be hard to see if the filter material outweighs the lack of fabric. It did fit snugly over the spindle so I am reasonably sure that it will seal properly.
