See through canister, brass unions on both sides. I have installed many of these in the past and I am very happy.. I would recommend anyone who has a well have one installed before their whole house filter.
Sub-par connections

We bought 2 of these filter housings to put inline with our well feed which has some rust particulate. They were advertised with 1" male NPT in and out, which would fit our system. However, even with the proper tape and torque, both units leaked. Turns out their MNPT has insufficient number of threads and taper. One of them even cracked open from torqueing on it to try to stop the leaking, and the other unit is now stripped due to the same problem. Had we known this, we would have planned to use their 3/4" MNPT adapters, but we were concerned because there was not enough material there to grab onto for proper torqueing. Needless to say, these are useless and ended up in the trash. We bypassed their positions for the time being until we figure out something else.

Update: Sim-Pure reached out to me and sent two replacement units for reinstallation. This time we used the female pipe thread connections on the housings with no problems except slight restriction due to the reduced pipe size. Until they redesign and update the connections on these units, please do not use either their 1" MNPT or their adapters. Use only their 3/4" FNPT connections. I have edited my review from one star to 4 stars.
Significant difference

Before and after installation photos. The original single filter would get sludged up in less than a minute. With the spin down it's a thousand times better. Using on CITY WATER (blut)
Very nice sediment filter, well built!

Edit Note: My original review is below the line and after 6+ months of use, I just wanted to update.

This filter has saved me a lot of time and wear on our washer. Our original washer, that begins with Sam and ends in sung worked great at first, but my wife kept complaining it would fill and discharge over and over. She had to start a load, let it drain, turn it off, then that do a rinse. She complained so much, she called me at work and said to bring her a new one, different brand. So I got an El Gee (figure it out), and it worked great a few months. Then it started giving an error code. Looking it up, it was a clogged input line. I took the lines off and there was a very fine sand covering the screen filters on the cold and hot inputs on the washer.

I'm having to clean them every month to keep the washer going. Understand, we're on a well, and it's very sandy where we live.

This filter is a lifesaver. Periodically, you hold a cup under it, slowly turn on the petcock valve, and dispose of the sand and water. No need to keep buying new washing machines, and this saves wear on the washer pump.

My wife just praised this item, and said "whatever you paid for it, it was worth every penny". So, I thought I would share our updated use experience.

Below is my opinion on the build and items that come with it. Maybe both will answer questions you have pre-purchase.

I bought this maybe a month ago, and ironically, I get an email to review it, and I just installed it today.

I know what this type of filter is and what it does, so that is no mystery, and I have no doubt after turning the water back on that it will work great.

It is made of a very sturdy brass. It comes with a few options to install. I am using it primarily for my washer. So I used the included reducers. They come with a high quality bushing/washer for adding the reducers to make the in/out connections 3/4" for the washer hose.

It comes with teflon tape, and maybe the best I've ever used. I have used rolls of teflon tape over the years, and I really liked what came with this. It has a shutoff on the bottom to drain sediment out, and the shut off is a good ball valve, which also have a quick connect adapter and included tubing to drain to a bucket.

I really can only praise this filter. I did not need anything that was not included for my project, except I did buy a 6' braded stainless steel hose so this could go inline with my washer and shutoff valve.
Seems Good But Filter Is Too Fine For My Water?

I bought a pair of these and run them in series using 200 micron and 40 micron filters before my two main filters 4.5"x10" media. The 200 micron filter is not catching much sediments but my 40 micron filter caused my water pressure to drop from 60 psi to below 25 psi.
I may have to get 100 micron filter to replace the 40 micron. The problem with this type of filter is it is a single layer and it is small, thus it gets clogged fast. Once it's clogged, you get no water. I've installed this for 3 weeks now. I have to flush out every night. My family used about 300 gals a day. Last night, I had to take out the 40 micron filter and clean it with a toothbrush. It is beginning to annoy my wife :-)
I wish the filter is a little bit larger. I'm glad that Simpure do sell replacement filters. My goal is to filter out large sediments with Simpure filters and leave the rest for my other filters.
I'm planning to get another pair to run in parallel so I can have more filtering capacity with 200 micron and 100 micron setup.

Update.
100/200 micron setup is better, but still clog after a few weeks. The flushing is not very effective with these give sediments. You really need to use a toothbrush to clean it.
