As per previous reviews it has a pretty narrow field of view so you have to take a wide swath of the area you wish to view - at no zoom - and then zoom in and focus. Sometimes just tilting the unit up a bit helps to get a better picture. Not exactly sure why that is ? You definitely have to play with it to find the best settings. The more you zoom the more pixilated the picture. It can though certainly outline a deer at 100 yards. I have not taken any video or pictures, but before doing will certainly mount on a tripod. You can learn the buttons quickly, but the 'shot' button not that easy to push, hence the tripod. Too bad they are not internal rechargeable batteries, but will try with external rechargeables to see how they work. Satisfied with product.
