Don't get white if you have a dog

Last year we bought the black magic mesh. It's so helpful if you have dogs just the ability to let them go out and in without me constantly getting up to open the screen door was huge! And it really works well. Although by the end of the summer it was getting pretty tattered, especially where the dog's head is. It isn't the most durable. This year. I bought a white one because I have white trim on my house. Kind of a huge mistake. Where the dogs go in and out it's all dirty and where I go in and out from my garden it's also dirty. So I wouldn't recommend white if you do a lot of gardening or if you have a dog

It's not the products fault, the sun was just so dang hot this year that the stickiness didn't last. We even used gorilla double stick tape and that melted down too. It's still up and working there are just gaps now where it melted and bunched up.

I needed a way to let the dogs move between the screened-in porch and the deck while keeping birds from flying into the porch and getting "stuck", unable to find the open door. I took a risk on this product because it was relatively inexpensive. My expectations were low, but it's turned out great. The adhesive has held all spring and summer and is showing no signs of coming off. The magnets auto-magically snick together satisfyingly after I pass through or the dogs do. Speaking of which, we have two Great Danes, and I didn't use the lowest set of adhesives, so that they'd have a bit more slack. (I was concerned about them tearing it right off otherwise.) It took them a few minutes to build up the courage to nose open the screen, but now, they pass through without a thought. One of them goes through the magnetic opening, and it snicks shut behind him. The other hits a panel and walks right through, letting it lift to allow her to pass--so I'm glad I left those bottom adhesive strips off. Maybe it would make her go through like she's supposed to, or maybe she'd rip it down. It works fine without the lower adhesives though and is holding up great. We also haven't had a single bird get into the porch since putting these up!

I had the original Magic Mesh for the back door of my house to allow my dogs to come in and out as they please without letting bugs in. It worked for a bit, but needed replacement. We decided to get the "Elite" since it touted that it was more durable than the original. Man, were they right?!
The "Elite" has more magnets than the original. The magnets are stronger. They're encased in nylon fabric channels instead of the plastic blocks. The mesh itself seems more heavy-duty. And it comes with the "hook and loop" (read "not Velcro brand") mounting system already sewn on.
I will say that I choose not to use the mounting systems included in the packaging. It's very hot where I live, so I've had experience with the adhesive on the hook and loop strips melting. The alternative included in the packaging is basically thumb tacks. Instead of either of these, I attached them to my door frame with a heavy duty staple gun. This also leaves smaller holes than the included tacks, so it will be less noticeable if I take it down.
We've had it up for a couple of weeks now, and can already tell that it is going to hold up much better than the original Magic Mesh. It's going to be so nice for when fall is in full swing.
