When I received the hoop, it was in a box with no instructions. I was a bit confused about the pieces, but then I figured out how to put it together. I'm pretty short so I left out 2 pieces, but I found that made it harder to hula hoop! My suggestion is build the whole thing when you get it, it will make it much easier.
As far as the exercise part, WOW. It is a great workout. I used my Apple Watch and I burned 124 cals in only 17 mins. You can feel your core muscles after the workout; I think 30 mins of this a day would keep anyone in great shape. I'm definitely going to use it daily!!

Before I received this, I went and picked up a cheap plastic one from the store so that I could make sure I remembered how to use a hula hoop correctly. I was a failure. But when this came, honestly, it was a lot easier to get the hang of. I guess because of the weight?
It is relatively easy to put together, though I had to take it apart in a couple of places, because the fit wasn't great the first time. (I recommend putting all of the pieces together). I love the foam padding, but the bumps are horrific. I can only hula hoop for a few minutes before my waist is in pain. This would be great if those weren't on it. I don't know how anyone could use this for a 10-15 minute work out unless their stomach was padded, too.

I can say this isn't what I wanted but knew this before I did so. I was wanting to get started & couldn't at this time put $50 into the one I want & need for me. So excited that I did so. Been using it ever day now for a week. No I haven't gotten no where close to mastering getting it going good. Yes I am getting some blue places from all the trying. But hey I'm 45 and over weight working at it for almost a hour a day, so what could I expect. It upsets me that people have give this bad reviews for those reasons. It's NOT a bad hoop. I have put it though so many drops, it has stayed together well. I'm doing it in the grass that may make a difference. I'm happy I did buy this. For the price I paid for it it's doing better then I expected. Just wish it was a little larger, not because I'm over weight but a larger hoop is much easier for anyone who is having a hard time. Look up the videos on hoola hooping & you'll see.

I wanted a padded hula hoop of a decent size to use to train my trick dog. This was a pleasant surprise. Thick and sturdier than any plastic hoop I've tried, it's a generous size and easy to put together. It will not come apart easily, if you need it to do so, which might be an issue for some, but for me was fine. I'm pleased with the quality overall for a sight-unseen purchase.
