Hot weather, no regular opening windows on ground floor, only those that open sideways with a lever. Last option was sliding door! Installed panels on sliding door and bought a floor air conditioner 10,000 BTU for $350 at BJ's and situation corrected. I use a 2X 4 wood on the bottom of the sliding door to prevent further opening and provides security. Please install the panels against the door frame, not the sliding door! Use a few screws and you can still open the sliding door and the screen door"¦ Listen to my reasoning, here in North East summer is only a few months so I can get away with air conditioners unlike other states that have home units. My replacement for air conditioners will always be much cheaper than installing a home unit.. I'm trying to cut down on expenses if I wish to someday retire"¦

The gapless sliding plate design is a significant improvement over the vent kit that came with my portable AC...far more stable, easier to adjust with the wingnuts, and an overall better fit within my window (keeps the hot air out even without using the weather seals). Additionally, this kit's shorter exhaust outlet is far more ideal that the two-piece combo that came with my AC...my 5" exhaust hose can now bend almost immediately. If the same sliding pieces are offered with a exhaust outlet that adapts to a 5.1" exhaust hose, I might pick up the door version of the kit for a portable AC I use in another room.

I dont have any windows in my room so i needed an attachment for the balcony door. It is a little flimsy, but with enough securing it works great. The weather tape provided kept peeling off, so i just bought my own and so far it has stayed secured. I put a strip on both the attachment and my sliding door, as well as a few pieces behind the attachment to keep it from wobbling. I recommend you get some double sided mounting tape to secure it even more. I used the 5.9"attachment for an A5407-8K air conditioner.
