You need to install the software first, it is on the included disc. Who uses an optical drive anymore? I had to break out an old one a plug it into my computer. Annoying, but no big deal. Once the software was installed, it was plug and play.

The mini antenna picked up all of the channels in my area, but I live in a City and their broadcast towers are close.

One word of warning: The USB stick gets REALLY hot during use. Once it heats up it just stays hot, the temperature didn't keep rising, from what I can tell. If you had some really soft plastic under it (like cellophane), it my melt that, but I don't see this getting hot enough to be a fire hazard and not hot enough to burn my hands or anything.

For what it is, I gave it 4 stars. It is pretty inexpensive, and it comes with everything you need to watch OTA TV broadcasts on your laptop. I knocked off a star for the heat of the unit while in use, and I just got it, so I can't talk about longevity.

I ordered this to use with one of those car android head units and it works great. Just make sure you have an empty usb 2.0 slot. No need to download any drivers, just install the recommended Free PadTV app. It comes with an an antenna that you can hide behind your rear view mirror. You can then run the wire behind the trim down to the glove box. Just FYI. It's illegal to have the tv playing when you are driving so this is more of a novelty item. Ex. Useful if you need to sneak out to the car to watch a game during th intermission at your daughter's ballet recital"¦

May not work for Win11 best tuner deal.

Bought this to use with my Plex server. When my house was built they didn't run coax to all rooms. I plugged this directly into my server and installed the drivers. Logged into Plex and searched for TV tuner. Did a channel scan and bam, I now have live TV on all TVs in my house. Very cost effective alternative to the other major brands.

I ordered this yesterday and got it today from Amazon. It took me about 20 minutes to download AND install all the files (Drivers, Manual and Basic Software). I live in Phoenix metro. I ran a scan with the mini antenna and got about 38 channels and was able to connect to and view several channels on my HP laptop. Reception was OK for the really local channels and less clear from more remote channels, which makes sense. I then hooked up an RCA indoor antenna and ran the scan again. This time I got 90+ plus channels and the rection when viewing the telecasts was a bit better. Be advised that not all the Channels returned on the scan will be viewable..,. may be due to distance or something else. A warning to the males with females in the household, it appeared that all the QVC channels came in just fine. I will be testing the product in the outdoor camping environment next month and will provide an update on the product once I return. .
