This was a great find for me and has been working wonderfully for my hydroponic set up! I wanted to scale up from my aerogarden and make my own deep water culture and this has been great. The motor itself can be very quiet or moderately loud depending on the surface you put it on and how high a level of aeration that you want. It really does the job incredibly well. The air stones provided with it have been surprising great, too. I bought two air stones from another vendor as I wasn't sure about the quality of the ones provided here but, honestly, I think the ones here are aerating much more than the other ones. The bubbles are medium sized. The motor for the air pump has been running non-stop since I bought the product three months ago without hiccup. I tend to run it on the lower end as my partner dislikes the noise it makes, but I find it something that goes away/you can block out - much like a fan. The product does vibrate, but it's mild and I haven't found it to disturb the area around it. That's partially where the sound it coming from. The other part is the actual sucking in if the air itself. I can't complain - no pump is going to be completely silent, especially at this price but it does a pretty great job at trying to minimize it. My plants love the aeration - I have a 14 gallon HDX storage tote that I'm using for my set up and this air pump more than does the job. Overall, great quality for a a great price, especially for someone new to this. Would definitely recommend!!

Side note: I did receive the item with one of the outflow nozzles (metal pieces in the front), reversed. It was a simple fix to unscrew the shell, pop it open, and then turn the nozzle so that it was pointed the correct way. It was working before doing this, just at a much lower power. Other than that, there's been no hiccups with this air pump!

â•  â–ºMy Review: This is a great priced air pump that I bought to help keep my fish alive. I liked that it had dual outputs and low energy useage. I wasn't sure if it would be quiet, but I impressed and can not tell it is on even when standing next to it. The set up is the only thing I did not like about it. First there were not instructions to understand where the red check valves went (they prevent want going into the unit which is necessary) and really how to set up with the connections. They provide a single 80 inch tube for you to cut and figure out on your own and is not easy to put them on. The tube was not long enough to do the set up I wanted and will eventually need to get new ones as the electrical cord is also short to move this far away from my tank. You are also forced to use both air outputs as you cant turn on or another off. That said when you get this set up it works really well and so quiet. It does have a knob to adjust the power as needed. On the bottom are rubber feet to keep it in place. I still recommend this for the price and quality, but would recommend buying a separate tube for ease of custom install first.

These work like a champ and are excellent for my aquaponic growing.

The media could not be loaded. Rcvd and installed it tonight. I have a 5 gallon tank that did not seem to have enough oxygen in it. Read the reviews and decided to purchase as it came complete with everything needed to get started. Very quiet. Love the fact that I can adjust the bubbles. I am going to get a T so I can just use one air stone. There is A LOT of movement now since the tank is small, so I think 1 air stone will be better. The fish seem to be kinda leery of it right now but we shall see. They are hiding in the corner behind the "plant". The hose is flimsy but had no kinks or issues. Also no instructions on how to install the check valve. I haven't had a fish tank in over 30 years. So there is definitely a learning curve for me. Luckily someone answered how to do it in the question section of Amazon. Very pleased with my purchase and highly recommend it.

The air pump works well, but is a little louder than I had hoped. I placed the unit on a small washcloth and that helped a little. I love that it comes with everything you need to set it up, and assembly was super easy. I wish that there was a lower setting. I have it in a 5 gallon betta tank, and the strength of the air flow causes a bit of splashing out the top of the tank (it's a Fluval Spec V, so there is a long rectangular hole in the middle of the lid, under the light). I got the air pump because I was having trouble with biofilm, and so far the biofilm issue seems resolved!

To summarize: Probably better suited for a tank larger than 5 gallons. Works well, but a little loud.
