I am new to this gluten-free challah thing (I'm breastfeeding my baby boy who I just found out has multiple allergies including wheat). The kit made 14 challah rolls for me. The one I tried tasted pretty good right out of the oven, though these are very likely the most expensive challah rolls I've ever had (considering the kit cost $16, plus $12 for yeast because it's so hard to find these days, though I'll have plenty to use for the future, then you need some of your own gluten-free flour to add if you want to shape the dough, and not including eggs and oil which are pretty cheap considering). I wish this was cheaper or at least included the yeast. I know I can buy a 3-pack for the cost of 2 individually, but I'm still trying to decide if this is all worth it.
I do have a ton of yeast now, so I'll probably bite the bullet and buy more packages of this mix. After all, I know I won't be making regular challah any time soon.

I was very leery of a gluten-free mix like this but we're so sad we cannot have challah for shabbat that I gave it a shot. I followed the recipe on the blends by orly website so we could have true challah for ha-motzi and birkat ha-mazon. I must've done something a bit off because I didn't get a braidable, kneadable loaf. So I used our new challah shaped silicone molds. I still was worried about how it would turn out. We were so delighted when we sat down for erev shabbat dinner. The challah was moist, fluffy, it didn't crumble like so many other gluten free mixes that I've made (and I've made my own blends). We were so glad we got it.
The price was a bit shocking for what you get. And I was a bit disappointed I still had to supplement to get ha-motzi bread. But the mix made two large loaves and four small challah rolls which if I had to buy a gluten free challah from the store would've ended being about the same price anyway. I froze what we didn't eat and we can't wait to tear into the loaves this coming erev shabbat.
Would definitely buy again. Mazel tov to Orly for helping us have challah again!

This dough is more manageable then the one i make from scratch but it's denser and tastes a bit less yummy. I think i'll keep making my own.
So easy and yummy

I am a pastor and use this mix to make communion bread for my church. Recently we hosted a large gathering of clergy and laity where communion was served. At least a dozen people asked me for "my recipe." Haha! They said they'd never had such delicious gluten free bread!
