This set of fun play tools arrived yesterday morning, a day before delivery was forecasted, much to the delight of my children. Did we need a second set of play tools? No. But my sanity required it as I have a 2yo boy, a 4yo girl, and regularly watch my friends twin 2yo girls. One set of play tools, the favorite for all of them, just wasn't enough anymore.
The tools themselves are your standard children's tools. These seem to be the same quality as the set of tools we previously purchased at Target for about twice the price. The value is there in the tools. You get a hammer, handsaw, wrench and screwdriver. The other accessories meant to build seemed great but I stuck them in our donate box, they won't get played with. My children, as well as the ones I watch, really enjoy pretending to fix toys and build things out of wood blocks. There is nothing wrong with the bolts or nuts or pretend wood pieces, they will just make more mess than fun.
The case is really the only thing I can complain about with this set. It is really difficult for a 2yo to open, and my 4yo struggles with it more often than not. You have to slide the locking mechanisms open on both sides before opening the top. If you have not pushed them as far as they will go the case will not open. But for the price I paid for these tools this is a miniscule problem.
