I'm a first time mom and was skeptical about buying these especially since they weren't the "Silverette" brand. I went ahead and purchased them, tried them out before I had baby (as recommended) and was unsure but once I had my baby they saved my nipples. They acted as a barrier between my nipples and nursing bra making sure that left over milk from my nipples didn't stick to my nursing bra as it dried. I had to rip my nipple off my nursing bra 1 time to realize how much these actually helped. On top of that, I never had bleeding nipples or crazy uncomfortable pain that's not expected when it comes to nursing. Also, I pumped colostrum before I had baby and whenever I felt my nipples hurting from baby's latch, I put some colostrum in the silverette and put it on my nipple. Healed it in time for my next feeding every time. Truly made my breastfeeding journey a lot smoother than if I didn't have them.

My son had messed up my nipple from a poor latch. I had to stop nursing on that side and go to pumping just to make it through. It was inflamed, swollen and super painful.. within 15 hours of having used the silver shield I was able to nurse him again with little pain and shortly after with no pain! It was the best $45 I've spent yet!!

My breastfeeding journey with my 3 week old has been pretty rough to start. I started off leaving the hospital with damaged nipples after the birth of my baby and breastfeeding was excruciating. I bought these nipple cups back then because the Amazon reviews for these and similar products seemed to suggest that silver cups were a miracle cure, and I was desperate. These Koala ones were more affordable than others. I didn't get much use out of them back then because I found when I followed the recommended instructions (to apply some freshly-expressed breastmilk into the cups and then wear them on your nipples), these were also causing me pain. I think it was because the breast milk dried into a crust that was causing the cups to stick to my nipples, cause friction, etc. They also tended to move around/slide around inside my bra and stretch/pull my nipples out of place. It would result in a sharp, prickly feeling, so I stopped using them.

Turned out my baby had tongue, lip, and cheek ties that were causing us both a lot of grief with breastfeeding, so in the meantime I went to exclusively pumping and my nipples had time to heal. I'm now trying to get re-established with breastfeeding after my baby had a frenotomy two days ago. Unfortunately, that means I get to go through the excruciating nipple-toughening phase all over again, and I'm having some soreness between nursing sessions, and sometimes during. I really can't stand fabric from my bras/shirts rubbing my sore nipples, but I also won't go topless because I don't like dripping milk all over myself. I gave these silver cups another try, but what I do now is coat my whole nipple and areola in lanolin, then spray a little bit of Legendairy pump lube inside the silver cups. I place them on my nipples, then put my Kea Babies nursing pads over them inside of a loose nursing bra. Those nursing pads are conical so they help keep the silver cups in place and stop them from sliding around inside my bra. I do believe doing things this way helps heal up my nipples because I will notice my pain between and with nursing sessions decreases throughout the day.

If nothing else, these are great for just stopping friction/rubbing from clothes, and they are a better alternative than the silicone nipple shields because there is no ring to press a painful, circular indent into your areola. If you know, you know. I have similar problems when I leave the Haakaa Ladybugs and Momcozy collection cups in my bra for a long time.

Maybe not the miracle cure others have advertised, but still a worthwhile investment for me.

I've never written an Amazon review before but felt like I had to for these...I'm on my third baby and had horrible breast feeding journeys with the first two. Cracked/bruised nipples, toe curling pain, bleeding, you name it. Everyone said their latches were fine. After switching to pumping for a few months, I finally gave up and we moved to a European style formula that was great but I was sad I couldn't make bf'ing work.

With this third baby, I was determined to push through the pain, get the latch right and get a good breastfeeding relationship going. I ordered these cups hoping they could help healing. I brought them to the hospital with me and have been using them religiously after every feeding (with nipple butter) since the first latch. I am BLOWN away at the difference these have made. They are like magic. Things are still a little uncomfy (we're only on Day 5) but I'm able to do every feeding without wincing or wanting to cry. The one feeding I didn't use them, I got a crack.

Trust me and buy these. Use them every feed. They are essential and I wish I had them years ago.

I believe it really helped heal my nipples. I was in bad shape on the verge of having to quit breastfeeding but these saved me. I gave it 4 stars because one of them got bent up a little bit but I'm not mad about it cause I still use it and they are worth the money.
