Nice rack but slightly overpriced

Rack is very well designed and includes innovative built-in locking features for both rack to hitch and bike to rack. A few downsides for me are as follows; the red straps that go around the front and rear wheels are stiff and much longer than necessary - even for my 29x2.6 wheels/tires. I haven't found a good way to keep the straps clear of the tray so that you can drop your bike in place. You almost need a third hand. Tucking them out of the way is tricky because of the size and stiffness of the material. Also, the rack does not tilt down enough to allow opening the rear lift gate on my Ford Escape. Overall, I'm still happy with this purchase considering that Thule is asking insane prices for a similar rack. Shame on you Thule! (and Yakima, Saris, etc)
Edit: I figured out that the straps can be turned down and underneath, a full 180 degrees, and fed into the buckle from the bottom effectively keeping them out of the way when loading bike onto rack. I've transported my Specialized Fuse Comp 29, a relatively heavy hardtail MTN bike, with zero issues. Worth mentioning; no tools required to attach to hitch receiver and does not rattle when tightened down (by hand!), folds up when not in use, light weight, and good fit / finish. Would easily be a 5 star product if the priced dropped to one seventy five.
Great Bike Rack, But ...

As for transporting bikes, this is one of, if not the best. Mounting is easy and even mounting two bikes only takes a minute or two at the most. The bikes are perfectly secure as my 1000 mile trip over various quality roads attests. It is well built and requires minimal and simple assembly. The trunk of my car can be opened and accessed even while the bikes are on the tray, but obviously not as easy as it would be without the rack. When not in use, the tray folds up neatly and easily.

I bought this particular rack because of all the tray mounts I viewed, this one was about the lightest at 32 lbs, and I've enjoyed and appreciated my other Allen products. I wanted a tray mount because I recently purchased a carbon frame bike and I didn't like the idea of hanging the frame by the top tube as my other Allen Rack requires. The bike mfr said it was OK to do that, if I secured it properly, but I just didn't like the idea.

The only drawback I've encountered is putting it in the hitch receiver (1 1/4"). I have a sedan and that is part of the problem as the hitch itself is fairly low. For reasons I cannot explain, I did mount it fairly easily the first two times I tried, but since then I haven't been able to do without help. With help, it's a snap. Holding the rack and getting it into a receiver that is this low is made a bit more difficult because whenever I get it close or need to tilt this way or that, I can't see what I'm doing. Sometimes this is my vision weakness, other times the rack itself blocks my vision. I'm 6' 0" tall and strong enough to lift 32 lbs without much difficulty. It's getting it in and mounted that is the issue. My instinct tells me this might be easier with a 2" receiver, but I haven't tried that yet.

If a potential buyer has a pickup or SUV with the hitch receiver that is higher than a sedan, that might make things easier. I might get better at it with practice, too. If a buyer intends to put it on and leave it on for extended periods, the problem I'm having shouldn't be an issue.

I'd give it 4 1/2 stars if I could. I've used other Allen products and loved them all. I love this one, too, I just wish mounting it was easier.
Minor details to be aware of...............

Appears to be a good design. The assembly instructions are NOT in English. However, assembly is simple enough that just looking at drawings and the shipping box photos will suffice. Comes with the usual cheap tools. My first shipment had a defective part and I had to return for replacement. Original shipment was fast, (PRIME), replacement came USPS, it took many days to receive it. Will update this review in a couple of months to see if this product holds up.
Pretty hard to ask for anything extra at this price

I have no real complaints about this rack. It was easy to assemble, fits well on the car and holds bikes very securely. Folds up nice and flat against the back of the car and can tilt to move the bike out of the way (better for hatchbacks/suvs).

The rack snaps into the 1.25" or 2" hitch receive tightly and you can lock it to the car for theft prevention. The arm that holds the front wheel in place even has a keylock on it (though it can easily be defeated by removing the front wheel, which can be done without tools on most modern bikes...I wouldn't trust the rack for that).

My 27.5" mountain bike fits great, as does my 29". There is even a groove for skinny road bike tires. You can adjust the length or height for different wheelbases and wheel sizes. The single-bike version says the weight limit is around 40lbs, so I think an e-bike or heavy downhill setups would be pushing it.

It doesn't rattle (much) or move around, or really have any loose parts once it's set up properly. It's very well made and low profile.

Only (minor) complaint I have is that the straps to hold the wheels down to the rack are made of a plastic that looks and feels like it may fade in the sun, and possibly get brittle over time.

I have also noticed the triangle shaped piece for screwing the rack in the receiver hangs very low, I have scraped it on low entrances but I also have a low car. Trucks and SUVs probably won't have that problem.

I have left it on my car in the rain several times and have also noticed a little bit of rust forming; not a big drawback but I'd say keep it dry if possible.

I try not to leave it on my car unless I'm using it which helps prevent these issues. But if you don't care, or usually park in a garage then it would be fine.

Overall this is a really good rack for a modest price. You can pay 3x this for a big brand system but I honestly don't see what you'd really be gaining by doing that. It's a humble piece of equipment, looks great and works great.
It's ok

It's started to split after the 2nd used. Beside that it's still seems to be working.
