My 7 year old daughter saved up her money to get one of these. She has flown it outdoors probably 100 times since we got it and it has held up really well. That being said, she is very careful controlling its landing to make sure it glides down to the ground. The wind has taken it away from us a few times and it has crashed into trees and our house without any damage at all. One of the times, I was sure that a wing would be torn by the time we fished it out of the tree. We got it down and there was no damage at all.
For reference, we have several acres where she is able to fly it. I don't know how it would do in a small yard. She has asked to fly it inside and we haven't let her. I think you would have to have totally mastered the controls and know exactly how sharp it turns before flying it in the house. If we still lived in our old farmhouse with 20 foot ceilings, and less breakable stuff, I would let her fly it inside.
The only issue we have had is the plastic screw holding in the batteries. Immediately out of the box, when we tried to open the battery compartment, the plastic screw head totally stripped making it impossible to turn and open. I couldn't find contact information for the company to get a replacement part once we forced the screw out from the bottom. Luckily, I was able to use a knife to make new slots in the screw head so that we could turn the screw. If it ever becomes unfixable, I think we will have a hard time finding something to hold the battery in. That could basically be an end to the fun.

I originally bought this to play with my cat outside but I ended up enjoying it more for myself. Yeah, the battery's only last 10 minutes on a good day but it's still fun to fly around. Unfortunately the wind took mine way too high up in the sky and I got stuck in a tree. So be careful where you fly! Either way though, this bird is very sturdy and will not fall apart when you crash it.

This bird actually takes flight and flys around the room or outside! My cats were scared of it at first but then tried to okay with it! It lasts about 15 min out of box then you use a usb to charge the battery. The remote is easy but I'm really impressed this thing flies and has preset flying patterns. It's definitely durable too. What I wish it did was also allow out to zoom and be controlled on the floor too. That would be fun, for the cats that can't jump.
