I thought the 2 yr old wouldn't touch it but it's getting a surprising amount of use. The parts are small so you have to be confident that the child is past the stage of putting everything in their mouths. You will have to participate because after the 'worms' are put in the babies mouth you have to retrieve them and put them back in their holes, but this can be done without interrupting the flow of the activity.
