This is beautiful, and we loved the winter scene. I tried without success to find one that was lite behind the scene. Instead, I brought a tiny Led Christmas tree to place beside it. It worked, but lite from behind would have been charming. The boxes are hard to open for adult hands. We have a hook for a different purpose but it worked great to open the drawers. The drawers are Tiny! Disappointed in that. You can put 2 Hersey kisses or one Roche, or plenty of loose jelly beans. We joked that we could have to buy those tiny Halloween packages. I'm not sure a snack Snickers would fit in there. Made options hard. We ended up using notes and hiding small items in other places.

I purchased this as a gift for my elderly Grandmother, to fill with trinkets for her to open each day (FYI, mini metal Nativity characters fit perfectly in these tiny boxes). It is lovely, but that being said:
Do yourself a favor: before you open this, put down a garbage bag to collect the loose glitter, and brush it off WELL. I wish someone told me this before a storm of glitter rained down on my table, lap, and curious toddler (who then ran away, trailing a cloud of glitter). There is no saving our house now, glitter is still being found two months later. We might have to move.
The boxes are not wood, they're MDF. Still functional, but don't slide out as easily.
The boxes are small. They will fit anything under the size of a snack-sized Snickers bar.
I truly wanted to give this five stars, but... glitter.

We bought this to replace an old wall advent calendar and we didn't expect to like it as well as we did. It is pretty and doesn't take up a lot of space. That said, the drawers are very, very tiny; they hold one hard candy or chocolate coin or a small folded note...
