This was exactly what we were looking for:
Has an alarm and flashing light when it's time for pills.
Somewhat easy for patient to use; to dispense the meds just tip the device into the hand.
This was for an elderly patient who lives alone and gets mixed up on the days of the week. Sometimes she would not take her pills and other days she would take them and the next days also. Now- right on time, the red light flashes and she tips the dispenser and out comes her dose for that day. She can't really understand a calendar half the time so this works. She lives in a safe environment and has help from her family. Short of daily visits to hand her the pills-this is an exceptionally good solution that has mostly worked.
The unit locks and we opted for the solid white cover not the clear one -to prevent confusion.
Minor concerns:
This device works well but not very rugged. I think it could be damaged if dropped.
The setup really requires the instructions and isn't always intuitive. We watched the videos several times to set it up. Keep the instructions and the key!
This is not a wall powered device with battery backup but simply a battery powered unit.
Two major drawbacks are that oval pills get stuck in the tray even when flipped over. The older person didn't see that some pills were left in the tray because the pills are white and the tray compartments are white. I find several missed pills every month when I unlock and refill the dispenser. A dark colored tray with slightly bigger slots would solve that issue.
UPDATE-We have discontinued this dispenser. We spray painted a disk dark and that helped her see the pills but my mother was shaking the dispenser upside down on her palm so much that the tray was off center and dispensing 2 days worth of pills. Also, the tiny pills were not staying in their daily compartments.
Excellent for Elder on meds and for someone with Parkinson’s

I do not normally post reviews but I cannot say enough about this device. It was absolutely a life saver for my elderly Dad that is 79 years old. He takes meds 4 times a day and could not keep up with them in medicine trays. I stay with him Monday through Friday and on the weekends I would have to call him to make sure he was taking his medicine on time. After having this one week he is taking every dose on his own without any questions at all. I just fill it up once a week and this little miracle does the rest. Wish I had got this over a year ago.
Works well with a couple exceptions

I bought this for my elderly mom with dementia. We were having medication compliance issues (either skipping or taking ahead) using the plastic day of the week pill holders.

Things I really like about this dispenser are that I can fill it for almost 2 weeks at a time (2x/day), alarms fairly easy to set, easy to use.

Areas that could use improvement are that sometimes when it rotates it goes a little too far and very small pills or half pills from the next section may come out. Sticky pills, like vitamin d, sometimes stick to compartment and aren't released with other pills. Also the section remains open until the next dose, so if for example your loved one has a pill for sleep they are supposed to take at night but they miss that dose, they may take in the morning if they see it in the open space and then be sleepy all day.

I would love an option to have blinking light for some alarms and sound for others, or sound to start if blinking light isn't responded to. Also would love a way to know if pills were poured out and time that happened.

Overall for the price I am happy but do feel with a few tweaks/improvements it would be even better.
I needed this

Great reminder to take your pills. I sometimes could not remember if I had taken my pills during the day. I was almost sure but not certain because my weekly linear pill container was full for this day. So I took them. Apparently I dad taken the pills from the wrong end of the container. Not going to happen again with this dispenser. My mother used a similar product for her mild Alzheimer's but was way more expensive. We let someone borrow it and never saw it again and when I saw this item at this price I grabbed it. Haven't made a mistake in the months I've had it. Even take it in the RV when we travel.
Eliminates the confusion for dementia patients

Mom is in a state of moderate to advanced dementia, but living in an apartment where others keep an eye on her without being a care facility or having in-home care. Her short-term memory is about zero, so remembering to take her twice-daily meds just doesn't happen. For a year I've been sending her reminders to take her meds, along with a photo of the compartment on her more traditional med dispenser that contains them. That worked about 95% of the time but was still confusing, and it took a lot to get a return message that she had actually taken the meds. And if a med changed she would dump all the compartments and try to "sort them correctly" because someone had come in and changed them, with no memory that she had done it.

This dispenser has eliminated all the hassle. She is now taking her meds on her own and reporting back to me in a timely fashion, without any prompting from me. She understands that nobody is able to change them so even if a med changes she knows it was done on purpose and all is well.

The unit is adequately sturdy that she would have to work pretty hard to successfully tamper with it. I don't see that being an issue, though someone with that disposition might find success if they worked at it hard enough. The mind is a funny thing though, as dementia advances people often start doing things they wouldn't have been prone to doing before. It's always a possibility that someone could overcome the safety features but it would be a hefty challenge for most people.
