I love that this Derby is not a flimsy costume hat, but a real, stiff Derby. It is rigid, as they were originally made, to protect one's head from muggers and while riding. The felt is sturdy and well made, and the shape is elegant. It fits perfectly, though I have a large head. If you wear a hat larger than 7-3/4, the large might not fit you. The packaging it was shipped in preserved the shape and quality of the hat, and I received it within a couple of weeks, rather than the 2 months that had been estimated. Overall, a wonderful hat-buying experience.

Nice value & great hat for the money , but I had to wait more than 8 weeks to receive it . So disappointed it took so long to receive. I like the hat a lot if I ordered it again I would go one size larger but overall it's a great looking hat . Hand made but shouldn't take that long to receive it . That's why it only got 4 stars âï¸ very slow delivery.

The hat itself is branded Gemvie. It is well shaped, stiff, and the sizing seems pretty good. The hat is a bit rounder than my head, so it's tight from front to back and has a bit of a gap side to side. I will probably steam it or tuck a reducer strip on the sides but I don't find it uncomfortable as it is now. It seems to be of very good quality with no obvious issues.
While there are a good many reviews for these type of hats where they were stuffed into a bag and subsequently crushed, I was very happy with how this was packaged. It was double boxed and suffered zero damage in shipping.
