Decent Internet Radio With Some Extras
Buffet Buster✓ Verified Purchase•July 22, 2023
I had been using a Logitech Squeezebox Radio for over twenty years. The company has been good about passively keeping the radios viable despite discontinuing them, but they haven't been upgraded at all. Lately I have had connection issues, with the radio dropping its WiFi connection all the time. User groups have outlined various possible fixes, but I am not a techie and just wanted a reliable internet radio.
I looked around and thought this Grace Mondo looked the most promising. I have had Grace radios in the past, but recently the company has been slammed for not doing more for customers who were left stranded by the demise of the Reciva aggregator which provided the stations for the earlier Grace products. I also still own one of the "bricks" that resulted. Nevertheless, I decided to give the Mondo a chance, and, overall, I am pleased with my purchase. Most of the internet radio stations I listen to are readily available. In addition, podcasts are easy to search for and add. The most pleasant surprise for me was the ability (lacking on my old Squeezebox Radio) to plug in a thumb drive to the USB slot to listen to music I had saved thereon. Even without an internet connection (and by using the optional battery which costs extra), I had a boombox of sorts I could take anywhere. All that having been said, I do have a few quibbles. The build quality is not as good as the old Squeezebox and the speaker produces a bit thinner sound. The base is definitely lacking (using the bluetooth option with an external speaker can fix that, but who wants to involve yet another device). I also found that the time display when the radio is turned off is way too bright to have next to the bed at night, and, if there is a way to dim it, I have not yet figured it out.
All of that having been said, I am happy with the Mondo, and, so far, it has been a good solution to my internet radio problem.

Fully satisfied with Mondo Elite

I bought the Mondo Elite because we like to wake up to an FM news station and our over-the-air reception had degraded so much that the news was unintelligible. I needed a unit that was designed (overall size; location and ease-of-use of controls) for a nightstand next to our bed. I've been impressed with the Mondo Elite's features, controls, and ease-of-use. It was easy to set up to receive the two FM stations that we listen to, and to Pandora.
The only concern I had when I made the purchase was that 2 of the 7 "Top reviews from the United States" mentioned that the display is much too bright at its lowest setting to have next to the bed at night. However, I discovered that the display brightness can be further adjusted (beyond the standard brightness settings) by rotating the Tune Knob when the display is in Standby mode. Simply rotating the Tune Knob counter-clockwise will temporarily dim the standby backlight brightness; at its lowest setting, it will be 100% dark. I dim the display every night before I go to bed, and the adjustment lasts through the night. This feature is documented in the User Guide, but unfortunately somewhat "hidden" in the Advanced Features section. Bottom line: this is not an issue, and I am fully satisfied with the Mondo Elite.

Good internet capable radio

Got this mainly for the SiriusXM integration, but I find I am using it for so much more.
The Sirius is ok, a little clunky to browse (as is the entire system) but if you go online or in your phone app and setup favorites it is adequate.
I also use Audacy and CalmRadio and that works ok if you use the presets. The front panel has 5 buttons (1-5) for presets plus a "Shift" button to give you 5 more (6-10 on the same buttons). But in the Presets you have 100, which is nice. I have about 40 presets setup right now.
Where this radio shines is the internet radio selection. You have access to a good database of stations. Not sure who they are using now but I have found quite a few international stations and I have a lot more to search through.
I keep the radio on my work desk, it fits nicely in the corner. The sound is good, not fantastic but very good for an office unit.
The app is not very helpful unless you put the radio in a spot where you can't reach it. I have not tried the Chromecast feature, I don't really need that.
I give it a solid 4, if the interface was a little better it might even rate a 5. I recommend it if you are looking for an internet radio unit or want something for streaming SiriusXM and don't want to use your phone.

Best Internet radio on market for Seniors
Dave (Australia)✓ Verified Purchase•May 17, 2023
Imported from US to Australia, simple to setup, easy to favourite stations to the preset buttons on the front. I searched for weeks trying to find a simple yet functional internet radio for my elderly parents as AM was weak and several devices in the home (washing machine and microwave) interfered with weak AM signals. This radio also sounds amazing, the quality and tone of the speaker is very, very good. Can highly recommend for older people that are not users of modern technology. as well as the audiophiles out there looking for a great sounding radio. No apps or smartphones are required for basic radio operation, just someone that knows how to connect it to the Wi-Fi network and then search for stations and favourite them. Once that is done it's set and forget! Note this doesn't come with an internal battery, that's an extra you can only purchase from the vendors website direct, but they will not ship it overseas. I had to use a third-party mailing service in the US to forward on my battery. The extra postage costs (for those outside of the US) is worth it for getting the battery so it can be portable. Given the stations are streamed over the intent the quality is exceptional (if the station you are after is listed). There are thousands of stations listed for all over the world and specifically for Australia, most of our local stations are available. I'm very happy with this purchase.
Best Internet Radio on the Market!

I had an earlier version of Grace Digital products and their performance was mediocre. They also stopped supporting their source of internet stations rendering the old units useless, so I bought this with some trepidation.
My Ocean Digital Radio stopped supporting a lot of stations I listen to when Audacy took their stations off the source.
This fixes that issue as it contains the Audacy app as a source so problem solved!
With 10 station presets, it makes it easy to access stations from multiple sources rather simply.
Very impressed with the product!
