It has like a double cover in the top & there is space between them at the top --- they can't be separated & when rinsed, you have to let it sit & dry for a good day on its own. I use this to chop dry chili peppers & have to wait for it to dry so chili powder is not wasted. Otherwise -- the power is great - very quiet & the chopping cup is nice & deeper than others. So I really like it except for that top design flaw.

The coffee bean crusher came with a broken lid. I specifically got this one because we had gotten one over 12 years ago and it was terrific. SO I knew this would be a great product, which it is. But when it came with a broken lid, I went back and forth about what to do. If I contacted Amazon, they would make me return it and I did not want to have to go to the post office and stand in those long lines. SO I contacted the company's customer service and they were very kind and said they would send a new lid. It did take a bit to get here, but now we're all good and my husband is a happy coffee drinker once again. It's fantastic, easy, and I couldn't be happier with the product and the company!

Reasons I like this grinder so much: quiet, even grind size, easy to use. Lots of videos here showing how quiet it is. What few talk about is the grind size consistentcy, which is amazingly good for a blade type unit. My suggestion is if you want a consistant amount of coffee for your brew, weigh the beans. It will leave you with a much more consistant brew strength.
For reference, I own a Mr Coffee burr type coffee grinder that still works, but I hate using it. It has grounds that range from powder all the way to large chunks in every batch. And worst of all is how incredibly loud it is. It would not surprise me to find it is at the very least 2x to 3x as loud. I wish I was exagerating.

I only use it for my small coffee maker. Usually only three scoops of beans. It grinds fast and quietly. I can put a cotton pot holder under it to make it even quieter than just having it on the counter. You do get coffee bean dust on the sides of the grinder. 99% of the coffee dust come off with tapping it strongly, but a little dust stays in the grinder. I dont wash it. You can pick up the ground coffee container "cup" and shake it over you coffee maker filter holder. You dont have to pick up the whole unit like some are made.

Went to the grocery store to buy coffee and didn't realize I grabbed the wrong bag until I got home. After debating on whether to exchange the whole beans or buy the grinder, I went against my wallet and bought this grinder. It works like a charm, super quiet, I live in a 1b apt with my husband and it doesn't wake him up. Win! I love that it came with a little lid to put on the removable grinding tin so you don't need multiple containers for the coffee. Plus, the main unit doesn't actually get grinds in it so the only parts you have to clean is the tin and lids. Super happy I bought it.
