I totally love my machine, I even nicknamed it and have replacement parts for it. I did not give it 4 stars because it does not handle hair well. The hair gets tangled up in the spinner every time I run the machine.
It also cannot clean my small house (1400 sq') in one go, so it needs to recharge in between runs.
But I love it still and cannot wait to get the one that mops as well.

I love these things. I have mine scheduled to run every day and they seem to be able to fund enough dirt to empty the bins every day. I have the model with the rubberized rollers rather than brushes. This is perfect in my home since I have a quilting business which involves a lot of sewing and a lot of thread hitting the floor. Thread tangles up badly and brushes and that's pain behind in to clean them these you just pull the little rollers out and pull out the thread and off it goes again. One of mine is about a year and a half old and the other one is new both of them are working great The older one is never had a problem knock on wood.

I've been using the Roomba i3 for over 1 year. I have hardwood floors with area rugs and carpeted bedrooms on the second floor. I also have a shedding dog. I have a basic charging station- not the one that removes debris from the dust bin. The unit did not have room mapping when I bought it. A software upgrade added room mapping.

Overall, I really like the roomba i3. It been a game changer for me. I hated vacuuming dog hair up all the time. This thing does the trick! I recommended it to friends.

Pros:

Navigation is good- the i3 does not wander and bump around excessively Iike other robot vacuums I've tried. Because it's navigation is pretty good, cleaning gets done more quickly. If the job does not finish, the robot will return to its charging station, recharge and finish the job. The charge lasts about 1 hr. 15 minutes.

Cleaning is far better than I expected. I performed a manual deep clean as recommended, and then scheduled the roomba to do regular maintenance. It maintains carpets well and hardwood floors very well. I vacuum my area rugs by hand maybe once a month. If I did not have a shedding dog, it would be far less than that. It gets under furniture and beds with ease, areas I hated vacuuming before. I bought 1 inch risers for my sofa so the robot could clean underneath. It's heavier than other robots I've tried and it has rubber brushes, both of which aid in better cleaning.

Scheduling is easy with the app. I schedule cleaning 3 times per week.

It's durable, a real workhorse. I have had no real issues. Once it seemed to stop picking up dog hair, but it turned out the filter was completely clogged. Now I remove the filter and shake or brush it out about every other time I empty the dust bin. I replace the filter once a month. I bought a dozen knock off brand filters which were a lot cheaper than roomba filters. They work fine. A second time it seemed to stop working, the rubber brushes stopped rotating and needed replacement. Roomba recommends replacing the brushes every 6 months, but mine lasted a year. In order to prevent brush rotation issues, occasionally you have to clean the brush ends from hair and debris that gets wound around.

Cons- I'd give a five star review if it weren't for these few things:

Both the dust bin and filter are small. I have to use the "bin full behavior" setting so it can finish a job without stopping and asking me to empty the bin. I do not have the charging station that removes dust from the bin. Having said all this, the bin is adequate for finishing a job without a reduction in cleaning power. The filter, however, clogs up fast. It's annoying to shake or brush out the filter every other cleaning. If the filter is clogged, the unit doesn't clean well.

Room mapping was rolled out in a software update, so I tried it. Mapping was easy to set up. However, my Roomba continually loses its connection to my WiFi when a map is set up. With no connection, the scheduled cleanings don't work. After hours of frustration and trying everything up to factory resetting my roomba, it turned out that getting rid of the map did the trick. Without a map, the Roomba rarely loses its connection.

We received this vacuum combo about two weeks ago. Every day since then we have set up a program to vacuum our floors daily. As far as vacuuming goes, it does a fantastic job picks up all the hair, dirt, and other stuff my kids and pets bring into the house. Concern is the mopping component. The pad is a little bit on the small side. This is a good style of mop, for in between deep cleanings, but if you were expecting a heavy duty style cleaning, this vacuum won't do that. I like that we have a schedule set. We just have to remember to empty out the dustbin, and put it over to the mop but overall we are satisfied.

My wife and I bought this one after our off brand Roomba kept getting stuck, getting hair tangled every single day (We have 3 short hair dogs, apparently all it took for the knock off to stop working was 3 strands of my wife's hair) constant errors, and not cleaning in neat organized lines (It was advertised as having both straight line cleaning, and mapping capabilities, which was a huuuuugeeee lie which would always result in a unique Picasso style painting on the rare occasions it would actually finish the job)

So after dealing with that mess for a year I decided enough was enough, and got to work looking for a replacement. I was stuck between this Roomba, and the Bisselle brand. Ultimately we settled on this one as it is capable of returning to the charger to recharge, and continue the job when it's ready (This works amazingly well) right out of the box this felt significantly more premium, had some good weight to it, and looked absolutely quality. I had work that morning (Had it delivered at 6 A.M.) so I quickly set it up, and scheduled it to clean. As I was leaving for work I heard it kick on, it's very quiet on carpet to the point you won't notice it (It is however extremely loud of hard floor) I left for work and started my day.

5hours later (It was 5 hours for 2 reasons, the first being it had almost no battery out of the box, so it had to charge twice, the second being there was quite a bit of heavy dust in the carpets that the knock off brand had left, nowadays it finishes in 3 hours) I get a notification on my phone saying it completed the job, I took a look at the map of the downstairs and was impressed at how well mapped it was being about 98% accurate. I got home from work and was impressed at just how clean and neat the carpet was, it looked like when we first bought the house! With all the dust gone the carpet felt noticeably softer, and I almost felt bad stepping on the clean carpet.

I went to check the Roomba, it had picked up and incredible amount of dirt and hair (I got on the floor and tried to pick out any loose strand of hair our husky shed, after trying in 8 different places I only found 2 strands of hair) Amazed, I flipped over the Roomba to check the rollers, once again I was shocked at how good of a job it did, having only had 3-4 strands of my wife's hair wrapped around the brushes (These came off easily, to this day I haven't had any of her hair tangled around the brushes again)

So far both my wife and I are absolutely amazed by this little guy. I would highly recommend this, and will absolutely be purchasing the mopping Roomba when we replace the carpet with hard floor.

Pros-
- Does the job right
- Quiet on carpet
- Battery life doesn't matter since it can return to the charger
- Extremely thorough
- Brushes do an amazing job making up for low suction power
- Decent sized recovery tank, and great design for easy disposal
- Great mapping
- Neat straight lines

Cons-
- Very loud on hard floors
- Recovery tank could be a bit bigger
- Dual sweeping brushes would be nice
- Stays half an inch away from the very edges, meaning the baseboards aren't cleaned properly
- Occasionally have to take the rollers off to clean the hair inside them (Still far better than our knock off brand Roomba)
