Was trying to catch a rat under my mobile home. Put lots of bait inside and out! Peanuts, veggie scraps...
Nothing the first night, but the next day an extremely irate squirrel was cussing me out!
Very difficult to open the trap door - used the handle of my dogs pooper scooper. Put on a pair of OveGloves to protect from getting bitten when I carried trap to a safe distance from my home.
So it does work.

I bought it to capture squirrels that lived in an attic. When I first assembled it, I used some (6 total) nylon ties to reinforce any attachment that could improve the sturdiness of the trap. I placed the ties where the rodent would not reach them with its teeth. I bent the latch of the trigger a very tiny bit, to increase the sensitivity of the trigger, because it initially required too much force to trigger it (to my liking). I used a couple of teaspoons of freshly broken unsalted peanuts as bait, creating a 2 yards trail of peanut pieces leading to the trap, and a little bunch next to the trigger plate. I made sure I always handled the trap and the bait wearing gloves, to avoid leaving too much human scent. All worked like a charm. Each squirrel was captured just a few hours after placing the trap, every time. I am impressed.
It works, but getting the trip set correctly is a trick.

I've caught one of my nemesis rats so far, but the other defies me. That's no fault of the trap but due to the genius of this particular rat.
The trip set on this trap is finicky. It can be set fully so that a good solid stomp will set it off, but to obtain the hair-trigger needed for light-stepping rodents requires multiple tries - and even then it is not quite as light as I'd like. It did get that one rat, though, so I know it will do the job on less-than-genius vermin.

I got this trap about a month ago and so far have captured a dozen squirrels. It works as advertised. I put some peanut butter on a post it note and add a few peanuts and place it just beyond the trip pad. Works like a charm. I like the fact that it is collapsible and easy to store.
