Crosley player

Bought this for hubby to replace an original Crosley I purchased in 2002 when this type player was very new on market. That original Crosley lasted over 20 years until the power switch gave up the ghost. Husband loves this player because he has many old vinyl records, CDs, and cassette tapes. He also loves listening to the radio. This new model is not quite as well made as our original one. Of course not, what is? More plastic on this one instead of wood and metal. Biggest neg we found is that the embossing above all those little plastic push buttons is very very hard to read. We had to use a flashlight and get right up close at eye level to read them. We wrote them down and quickly learned which button does what, so now all is well. The original Crosley had a higher quality metal plate on the front. Otherwise this player is good. The sound quality is excellent, better than our old one. The little plastic lever that raises and lowers the arm when playing records has never worked from the start, but I didn't want to return player for that one little thing. We just lift the arm on and off the record manually just as we did with our old player. Hubby is 82 and not much for new tech stuff, so really enjoys this Crosley. Great gift for any senior.
All in one one is a nice feature, if sound were better

I love the way this looks in a room with my antique furniture and Rolltop desk. It's very nice that it includes blue tooth. I wish the sound/speakers were a little crisper. For the money - it's a great deal. Overall I give it two thumbs up!!
Nice looking and work great!

I bought this because I was looking for a record player, as I've come accross a big collection of old ones recently. I wanted a vintage-looking one that also had a radio. When I saw that this one also played cd's, mp3, and cassettes, I actually became cautious. I thought this may have too much built into it to really sound good or be reliable in any one aspect. I've read other reviews that complain about certain features, and I'm sure they have their merits. This is not expensive for all that it does, and I would think there would be some bad apples. But I have had nothing but a good experience with mine. It seems to be built well and should last if you don't keep moving it around all the time (like anything).
The record player sounds great. Plays 3 speeds, and comes with an adapter for the 45's. It has a very good hinge that keeps the lid open. You just have to make sure you close it correctly by pulling the middle of the hinge toward you when closing it. You can't just shut the lid.
The radio seems to be able to pick up all of the stations that my other radios around the house can. (I have a portable cd player/radio and my truck's radio to compare with.) Sound is good. I like that when you turn the radio on, the stations are lit up by a yellow light, and the font style keeps with the vintage look.
The cd player works fine, sound quality is fine. It is a minor quirk, but the only thing that I don't like about the cd player is that the tracks are shown in bright red numbers on the middle of the unit. This kinda takes away from the vintage feel. I don't think I will be using the cd player much, but it is very convenient if I want to.
I've only briefly tried the mp3 hook up just to see if it works and it did with no problems. It comes with a cord to connect your mp3 player to the unit. The plug-in is located at the back of the unit, so it might not be the most convenient thing, but if you leave it plugged into the back with the other end accessible, it should be fine.
I haven't tried the cassette player, as I no longer own any. I don't plan to either, so for me, its not a big deal if it works or not. Hopefully if my unit has any flaws, it's located in that section.
Overall, I think it is a great value. It does not sound like my bigger sound system that I have in my home. I don't think it was meant to compete with that. If you are like me, and want a unit mainly to play records, and have all of the other convenient features, then I would say to get it. Of course, as mentioned, with something at a price like this, it is not going to be made of the highest quality, so there may be some faulty ones. But if something doesn't work, I would try to return it and get a new one. A fully working one, as mine seems to be, is worth it.
