liked it so much I bought two more

They've improved the overall quality since the first one I bought with better machining and smoother action. Almost as good as the kuhn rikon at less than 1/3 the price.
The $10 knockoff is better
Amazonian✓ Verified Purchase•July 11, 2023
This $10 knock off is built to more precise standards, meaning less garlic squeezes out the sides, and is easier to hold due to the slightly different top handle.
A little messy to clean

This sucker will easily crush unpeeled garlic!
This is a knock off of the Kuhn Rikon Epicurean Garlic Press but BETTER

So I ordered the Kuhn Rikon, then I saw this one, for about half the price. Figured since I have two places, I could keep one at each place. This press is built almost exactly the same as the Kuhn Rikon, with one exception. The top handle of the press is a little more straight, thus you don't get quite the same ergonomic grip to squeeze the garlic press like you do with the Kuhn Rikon which has a curved top handle. Garlic does squeeze up through the sides. Surprisingly super easy to clean just like the Kuhn Rikon; you don't need any little tools to push the garlic out of the holes. Flip it open all the way and it cleans well with running water. Easy on the hands but not as good as the Kuhn Rikon. My Zyliss still works the best, but am concerned that the finish is starting to come off, and I don't want metal in my food. This is stainless steel so no worries there.
ADDENDUM: After further regular use, I upgraded the rating on this to 5 stars. This one is almost as easy on the hands as the Kuhn Rikon and there really is no difference in the long run. The real difference is that it is better than the Kuhn Rikon on tolerances. The press has a nice tight tolerance so that the garlic does not squish up on the sides as much as it does on the Kuhn Rikon. It does a little, but not a lot like the Kuhn Rikon does (which I am now disappointed in after further use). Bottom line, for half the price, you get a better garlic press.

Very similar to Swiss unit

Bought this press because the Swiss-made unit I bought a few years ago, broke. Warranty on Swiss unit was only good for 24 months but at the price I paid, I expected the unit to outlast me. This unit looks very similar, though it lacks some cosmetic refinements.
