Do not freeze gel packs separately.

My wife bought this as we both get occasional severe headaches. The instructions said to freeze the gel packs separately in the sleeve provided. That is the problem. Once frozen they are stiff and do not fit back into the slots inside the hat! We had to wait until they thawed and were soft again, then placed them in the slots and froze them together with the hat. It then works great and the hat is very comforting.

The fleece is very comfortable and after a minute or two the gel packs start to mold to your head. Since my migraines are always on one side of my head I can leave 2 of the gel packs on the freezer at a time for a quick change out and almost costanr cooling.
The "helmet" as I call it, has enough material to pull it down over my eyes too so that helps with light sensitivity.

I seem to get a lot of headaches and need to take painkillers all the time. This works much better. Very comfortable on head. Hate to take it off. Tried a different one and it was not nearly as comfortable as this is.

The fleece liner also keeps the cold of the ice pack from doing much good in my opinion.
