Because my sanding drum seemed to cut the nails slowly, I have been in the habit of first using a nail clipper on my 45 pound dog's nails and then using a sanding drum on a Dremel tool to smooth the sharp nail tips. So my first use of this tool (I used the 'large') was just to use the cone end to round these nail tips, which worked well and was easier and much quicker then using the sanding drum. The second time, with a little more confidence (I am not a professional groomer) I used the tool to grind down the nails rather than clipping them. The tool ground the nails faster than the sanding drum ever had, and cleaned up quickly afterwards using an old toothbrush. So I am quite happy with it. As to the three sizes of these tools, if the 'extra large' is the size of a Dremel sanding drum (as another reviewer observed), then the 'large' and the 'small' would be a medium and small in comparison.
I've paid more for the same thing!

I'm a professional groomer though I bought these for my home dremel for my own dog. I'm pretty satisfied with them. I was using a 100 grit band before and after it started getting used up I searched for more. Sadly I had a hard time finding 100 grit so I decided to try out these. Oddly enough these seem to grind a bit slower and would probly benefit from a lower grit on the outside like a 60.
Other then that I have nothing but good to say! I LOVE the finish it leaves. My dogs nails have never been so smooth. He tolerated this one much better as it seems to be more gentle and doesn't heat up (I've always watched heat but I'm sure he is sensitive to even a little). It still grinds pretty effectively for the little dog in doing. And I LOVE the bowl option. That's what really gets it smooth. If your elderly or working on your dogs jumping habits this will pay for itself in no time. Since it doesn't grind super fast if your dog has long nails, cutting excess then dremeling is what I do with all long nails. But since my dog is on a schedule the Dremel head works great on its own. I also really like how it sits low on the Dremel. It gives more control and less of a chance of catching my dogs or my long hair haha.
Since I'm a Groomer I'll now be bringing these to work from now on! I'm that satisfied.

I am a dog groomer and I have been doing it for over a decade. This tool has been amazing! I use it multiple times a day, every day on dogs that range from 3 lbs to 130lbs and I have never had any issues. I have been using them for a couple months now because I wanted to see how they held up before I said anything and my co-workers and I love them!
I clean mine everyday so that it stays like brand new because nail dust will make the grain not as effective if its caked on there. With professional tools it works exactly as it should and does it quickly and effectively.
