It reaches his hip and although he'd prefer it a little longer, it works well as he needs free use of legs without jacket restraining him.
We bought this in bright orange for safer winters in Virginia when working outside in disk, dark and limited visibility due to short days and weather conditions.
Thickness is good for temperatures 10F-45F. It's wind resistant, warm and with an easy zipper. Quality is good and this was his value for the money.
We've tried other brands but this was the best we could find in durability, fitting in length and in right thickness for cold days.
We bought similar but less thick jacket (different brand) for use when temperatures reaches 50F.
