Stays cold for the time I need it to. I use this cooler often for my business on very hot summer days it does the job of keep the ice, well ice. If there's any left over, it melts but as I would expect. It's a cooler not a freezer. I have owned 5 of these and they are by far great for the money. I have to keep replacing do you wear and tear. I definitely get my Monroe's worth and they hold up pretty good for what they've been through. Sure I could spend way more but these do what I need them to and I know how long they will last.

My left knee was replaced in early July, and I was sent home with an ice machine for icing my surgical area. The machine takes about 3/4 of a bag of ice. We had to clear my freezer to accommodate at least 2-3 bags of ice and a partial bag. This made it very inconvenient as I am used to having frozen fruit, vegetables & meat, etc. in my freezer. I was scheduled to have my right knee replaced on Nov 8, and did not want the inconvenience of clearing out my freezer, so I searched for a decent "ice cooler" for bags of ice. I admit I did not visualize what "100 quart" size was, but figured it would work, and the price was far more to my liking than what a Yeti cost. After all this was for a temporary need. The Igloo Polar Cooler (100-150 Qt) size is much larger than I visualized. We found having only 4 bags of ice in the cooler resulted in melting after 24 hours. Having 8 bags in the cooler resulted in much less melting, and seemed to be the what was needed. But, that's not realistic for the duration of recovery because starting with the 4th day the ice machine is not used around the clock, but in 1 hour intervals, and starting with day 11 it is used only as needed. Most of the ice melted in 3 of the 6 bags that were in the cooler yesterday. I can see where the cooler would be a great benefit if keeping food cold on 1-2 blocks of ice because large blocks stay frozen much longer than ice cubes in a bag. The photo shows 4 bags in the cooler. Not seen in the photo is water at the bottom that has leaked from the bags as of yesterday evening.

So the cooler holds ice well enough. Definitely not top of the line, though.
