This is by far the best bang for your buck type deal out there for aquariums. It sucks up debris from the sand strong enough to make sure little sand is sucked up but all the mess is picked up. Made my substrate looking from ehh to a new bag of sand i just put in. I do recommend when ready to take out the end part which sucks up water and stuff to put like a basic sponge or pad to let water through but still collect all that dirty stuff. If not all of the stuff that cant fit through the sponges in the device. Will most likely fall back into the tank.
It would be good for a large tank but not small ones.

If I had a large aquarium this would be a great product. The pump is too large for my tall 10 gallon aquarium and makes cleaning into the corners of the the tank much harder than doing it with a simple siphon hose. I wanted something that could be used often but this is just too large to use without removing everything from the tank. The pump is so large I couldn't judge the proximity to my fish.

This thing works great. Great flow and functional attachments (except the brush). It is a bit bulky in the tank, but I was expecting that.
I pulled the brush head from the attachment connector and replaced it with 5/8 inner diameter vinyl tubing so I could get around my plants and rocks. The other attachments connect right into the tubing if I need them. This helped to get around the bulky motor issue in my planted tank, just make sure the motor is submerged.
Just used it for my water change in my 55 and it went really fast and efficient (all things considered). Used 2 buckets so I could alternate dumping them and filling. Came back during the filling part and found the hose fell out of the tank and was doing a spectacular job of watering the carpet. Thought I had it restrained with the glass lid, but nope, totally my fault (stupidity). Promptly turned off the pump and in a panic raced to go get some towels to dry the floor. When I returned I found the bucket that I was suctioning FROM was about to over flow. When I turned off the pump, the flow changed direction and starting filling the bucket from the tank (again, my fault/stupidity). My mistakes aside, this thing performed better that expected.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you choose to use the black hose that comes with it, be aware that there is a LOT of black plastic particulate (from manufacturing) inside the hose. Be sure to rinse it thoroughly several times.
The only thing this lacks is a hose clamp to securely fasten it to the tank or a bucket.

This is a good product. I was hoping that it would filter as well when doing water changes but it does not. But it is quite easy to use and really makes water changes much easier. I just had to move with my turtle and this made emptying and transferring his water way easier. The suction could be a bit more powerful and i wish the water wouldn't come right out and kick up the debris I'm trying to suck up. But for water changes it is great.
