My ice cream maker stays busy all year, but especially in summer. Nothing beats this ice cream mix if you use this recipe. Of course there's a recipe on the box, but I use 2% milk (1 2/3 cup) and 1/3 cup cream so I save calories without giving up great texture and taste. Mostly I use the vanilla mix since I like to add various things to make wonderful flavors like peaches, pitted cherries, pumpkin and spices, crushed peppermints to name a few, but getting a really wonderful chocolate ice cream with depth of flavor is not so easy, so I just go with this mix for that.
I've not been able to find the chocolate flavor in any store and am grateful it's available here for a reasonable price (at this writing anyway). The vanilla mix is higher priced here for some unknown reason and not prime shipping so I was glad to find I could replenish my stash at a local store.
I've been making my own ice cream with this brand mix for several years now and find it so much easier than making my own base. The texture and flavor are great and there are no unpleasant ingredients. The prep is wonderfully fast since I just blend the milk/cream and a box of this mix with a stick blender right in the 1 quart container that goes in my ice cream maker. Couldn't be easier and the results are heavenly. Any left over stores well in the freezer.
Final note: To make your own 'magic shell' topping which my grandchildren always ask for, melt a tablespoon (or a bit more) of coconut oil and up to a cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips together, stirring constantly (takes just a couple of minutes) and drizzle over the ice cream. I store the remainder in a small mason jar and reheat in the microwave for 30 seconds for the next dessert. It's great over chilled fruit too.

You will never fail using this mix, the Choocate taste good

This one taste real chocolate, and it freeze more quicker than Vanilla mix. For Vanilla mix it takes also 15 mins. to get freeze up as ice-cream but this Chocolate mix takes less than 10-12 mins. I had a soft ice-cream machine, I thought it takes the same time as Vanilla but by the time I stop the ice-cream maker, the Choc ice-cream already hard as rock and can't make soft ice-cream.
You will never fail using this mix to make your DIY ice-cream, it takes me less than 5 mins. to mix it, originally you only need to add milk, but I add 200 ml milk and 40 ml cream to make it more thicker and creamy. If save a lot of time, and with this mix, you can make you own ice-cream in a short time (of course, you need to have a pre-freeze ice-cream bowl), I put the ice-cream bowl in my extra freeze all the time so whenever I need to make ice-cream, its ready to use.

A little too sweet, but you can add to it

I used this mix as a test-run for my new ice cream maker. I added about 2 TB of cocoa powder to the mix to increase the chocolateyness, then mixed well in a bowl until it was all incorporated. The result was a wonderfully sticky, stretchy chocolate ice cream, almost more like a gelato. This is a great ice cream base although it is slightly too sweet for my liking, but adding dark or unsweetened chocolate to it helped cut the sugariness.
Yummy

If you have a Cuisinart or other home ice cream maker, very easy to make good chocolate ice cream with the Junket Mix. Even good using non-fat milk. Just mix milk and contents of Junket package-25 minutes later-you have ice cream. Can be eaten right away or stored in freezer. Quick delicious dessert for a dinner party as it can be freezing while the main course is being eaten. Also add-ins such as nuts, chopped candy bars, and fruit make it even more special. Try toasted almonds with Mounds candy bar.
The Secret Ingredient...

This little box contains a brown chocolaty powder. The instructions tell you to add two things: whole milk and whipping cream. By itself, whole milk and whipping cream, with a little sugar and frozen, IS ice cream. So what does this little box give you that some sugar and powdered cocoa doesn't?
I have no idea, but it's worth it.
Whatever is in this powder does two things you won't get from the plain ingredients alone: volume, and thickness. The ice cream was thickening so quickly that what should have taken 20 minutes to reach was thick enough to overwhelm my electric machine in 10. The volume more than doubled over the liquid base, which is about 50% more than with plain ingredients. These alone make it worth it.
Flavor-wise, there are no complaints. It's chocolaty and sweet... nothing spectacular, but no worse than you'd get out of your store freezer.
