I really like the monitor but I was able to get the lancing device to prick my cats ear. I even put it on the highest setting. It appears the device does not allow the lancet needle to go past the tip of the device.

If you get too much blood it won't read, of course not enough blood it won't read either.

The strips are half the cost of other brands. The tester is easy to use and read. If you need to check frequently, this is a good budget alternative. However, it requires a larger drop of blood to sample.

When I took my diabetic cat to vet, I had them check the accuracy of this. This glucometer read 376. The vets glucometer read 396 and the Chem 10 bloodwork came back with glucose of 386 so this was within 10 points just like the one the vet used. I can't get the lancet device to work right but that may just be me. Replacement strips are reasonably priced too.
