I bought this machine as my first ever CNC machine, because of it's size, design and construction. I'm new to CNC and did a lot of research, watched lots of videos and did a lot of reading. This machine came in a timely manor, was well packaged and was easy to assemble and get started. But, That's not what makes this machine great.
After the unpacking and assembly it was very evident that the machine is very well built and of high quality components and materials. But, that's not what makes this machine great.
I started small, learning the software and making little projects. The machines set up and functions were precise and produced very good results, However, I did have some issues and questions through the learning curve, so I had to rely on The Sainsmart support team. My contact was a gentleman by the name of Jamie. The response time was extremely fast, very professional and like the machine itself, very accurate. Jamie is extremely knowledgable about the products, the operation and all the technical aspects of their machines. Jamie is very patient and accommodating to my low skills and lack of technical knowledge.
Jamie and the Sainsmart support, now that's what makes this machine GREAT !!
If you are looking for a good CNC to start your journey in to the CNC world, THIS IS THE PLACE YOU WANT TO BE !!!

I purchased this unit 1/26/23 and it arrived promptly on 1/30/23. I put it together 2/11/23
Early positives:
Assembly was super easy as main components come preassembled. The manual is easy to follow, with only one minor unimportant flaw on the instruction to assemble the spoil board (incorrect number of bolts mentioned). Watching one of the multiple assembly videos ahead of time was also very helpful.
Software installation and control testing went flawlessly. But...
Early only negative:
As expected, the machine is not quiet. However, right from the start the movement of the x-axis to the right, at slow feed speed (500 mm/min or less), was not smooth. There was a very noticeable sound almost like a grinding noise. It did not happen on the y- or z-axis, or at higher speeds.
Next positive:
I contacted SainSmart customer support and received almost immediate feedback, from Joey. Early suggestions were to relubricate the lead screw and check for proper tightening of bolts and screws.
After a few more tests, a few weeks, and sending several short videos taken a different feed speeds and for all three axis, SainSmart eventually concluded that the slider in the gantry was probably the culprit.
They sent me an expedited replacement free of charge. After installing the new slider, the noise disappeared.
Joey from customer support was quick in responding to each of my messages and forwarding to the appropriate technical team for evaluation.
The less positive (but I can't really label it as negative), is that the email communication was USA-China, which means that due to the difference in time zones, a response in either direction basically took about 2 days, sometimes 3 (weekends). The entire evaluation and fixing of the problem took one month. Other than having a customer support group based in the US, I don't know how this time span can be shortened.
I have now had a chance to do a few real carving tests and so far I am very pleased with the performance of this machine.

I'm doing some cabinetry work for my house and found myself in need of a machine to cut arches for cabinet doors. Last time I did this I used my CNC milling machine, but the table size is limited and cutting wood on a metal machine tool can be a mess to clean up. So I started thinking, maybe one of these CNC routers would work. The problem that I saw was that most of these router setups are pretty light weight. I figured I would need to use at least a 1/4" router bit to be able to cut my 1" thick material. I saw this kit and the frame looked a lot stiffer then the competition. So I took a chance and ordered the machine.
The machine came with in a few days and I was very impressed. The frame was made out of very robust aluminum extrusions and was beautifully anodized. The construction of the machine was very solid. My gamble was paying off.
So I started testing the machine out. I quickly realized that the supplied spindle wasn't stiff enough to make the heavy cuts I was needing with the 1/4" router bit. The machine came with a wood router mount so I installed one of my small routers on the machine. To my liking, the machine was now stiff enough to make 1/4" deep cuts with the 1/4" router bit with no noticeable chatter. I'd just have to program multiple cutting passes but SheetCAM can do that easily.
I then drew out a profile using AutoCAD and then imported it into SheetCAM to generate the G-Code. To my surprise, the latest version of SheetCAM had a GRBL post processor that seemed to work. After some testing, it looks like this machine will work fine for my cabinetry work. Heck, now that I have the CNC router, I might even try adding some carvings to my work. We'll see.
I also bought the 24" extension upgrade kit and the aluminum spoil board so I can handle all of my door sizes. Both upgrades are gorgeous anodized aluminum construction. I also purchased the Offline Controller module. While it is a little bit cumbersome to use, for about $40, it is nice not getting saw dust all over my laptop whenever I need to cut something.
So Over all I'm very pleased with the machine.
I only gave it 4-stars because it did require some tech support on a few instances. But I have to give 5-stars to Sainsmart's technical support as they really went out of their way to make sure the machine was up and running properly. I was very impressed and appreciative of how easy they made the whole process.
Thanks for the help.
