I took my granddaugher to ride her S10 megawheels scooter for the first time. I was surprised that with a full battery charge the scooter made it 9 1/2 miles and still had 1/2 the battery charge left.as to the S1 megawheels with a full charge batter didn't make it to 3.4miles before battery ran out and scooter died.upon returning home it would not charge at all.I paid a little more for the S10 but I would rather pay a bit more for better quality.

UPDATE: The manufacturer has excellent and responsive customer service, and after reaching out to them they offered to refund the price difference, allowing me to avoid returning the physical scooter.

The value is really excellent, and even at a much higher price point this scooter would be well worth buying. I'm personally at the higher end of the rated weight carriage range, but it zips along comfortably at least on fairly level ground. I haven't had occasion to test it against aggressive hills, because I live in a fairly densely populated urban area where many of the main arteries have dedicated lanes for bicycles and small vehicles of this type.

Upgrading my review from one to four stars, I'm withholding the final star because of the opaque pricing policy. Within the past few weeks, I've seen this same listing on Amazon for as much as $359.99 and as low as (today) $284.99 with $40.00 coupon for a net price of $244.99, actually slightly less than the $249.99 after refunded that I ended up paying. I want to buy a scooter, not time the market. At some point, the price should reflect fair market value, and that should be relatively stable at least in the short-term, without wild price fluctuations.

My original interest in this scooter was piqued by friends who bought other brands in the $600-800 range, but they use them as primary transportation and I didn't need that, so I was willing to sacrifice battery capacity and motor power for cost savings. After some research, it became apparent that Megawheels is the least expensive brand of adult scooters useful for real transportation, and I was reassured by finding a number of hands-on review videos on YouTube praising the solid construction and ease of assembly of this model.

The design of the scooter is well thought out, down to the handlebars using left-handed thread on one side and right-handed thread on the other side, which according to some of the posted reviews has stymied a number of people during assembly, but from an engineering perspective it is obvious this was done to prevent the handlebars from coming loose in ordinary usage and is a good idea. The thread direction needed for assembly is clearly marked on both the turning and fixed parts, but it is undeniably counter-intuitive and unexpected, so people who do not pay attention to instructions are at a disadvantage.

The scooter looks promising and sturdy, and was easy to assemble.

What went off-the-rails wrong is that I discovered after assembling it that the manufacturer ON THEIR OWN WEB SITE sells the scooter for $50 less (with free shipping) than I paid on Amazon, and as a matter of policy Amazon could offer no option other than for me to break down the scooter, repackage it, and ship it back via UPS. The end result was that I had to go through a lot of effort, Amazon had to eat the cost of shipping both for the initial order and the return, and the returned scooter can no longer be sold as new.

Do not buy this scooter from Amazon! Buy it more cheaply from the manufacturer directly.

The scooter was great the first season. Excellent speed and range in the city. However I had an issue with the battery within the first year. I reached out to customer service and they repaired the scooter right away, I just had to send it in. Excellent service!

Overall I gave this 4 stars for 3 reasons, one being it has non suspension/shocks, second being the lights could brighter and third being the noise that comes from the latch where the scooter folds, which I fixed on my own.

I bought TWO of these scooters out right which was a gamble. I thought it would be a bit of a money saver considering my truck is a V8 and these have always been fun. My brother and I work at the same job which is why I bought two. The ride is approximately 5.5 miles, with the destination being part way up a mountain. The ride is fun but no suspension definitely had me feeling it in the lower back. I actually got airborne on my first ride to work (not intentional and do not recommend). So this thing has enough speed for sure, the bump came up unexpectedly and fast so keep an eye out. The inclines were perfect in this thing. Keep in mind the weight, I weigh less than my brother so I passe him easily on the inclines. However, neither of us had to assist in the uphill and as I stated the ride to is all uphill.

Therefore, going downhill be careful with speed. I definitely reached around 20+ mph going downhill on this. The break lever is fine if you ease on the break. I like to use the lever and the rear foot break for a smooth stop when going downhill. On straights I just ease on the break lever and it does just fine. My 7 year old tried it out on slow and liked it, so now I'm onto finding a comparable child's scooter. This is an overall great buy and it's been fun. I'll be investing in a brighter headlight and will be using an attachble one on my backpack for any night riding I do on this. I would recommend to anyone wanting to save money gas wise or just to have some fun.

I initially wrote a 1 star review to get the attention of customer service to replace the hook in my scooter that broke, after exchanging emails I receive the replacement for my scooter and it worked pretty well! Customer service was nice, they did ask for my amazon order number and details as well as pictures of broken part.

This scooter has been an amazing purchase! I live in Savannah is a small town with plenty of bike lanes, this scooter has made my commute so much easier. Its smooth and easy to ride, my dad got a different brand and upon comparing them one of the benefits of this scooter is that you can set the speed range you want, if you are a beginner and you are scared of going too fast you can set it to 20miles per hour, and when you hit the accelerator it will go anywhere between 0-20 which is amazing for safety, you can go and set it to the max if you'd want. Easy to park and easy to take anywhere once is folded, I carry it inside and out my place all the time. Breaks and accelerator work smoothly and fine, I feel super safe on this scooter and it's so much fun.
If you live in a small town with the appropriate bike lanes and your thinking between a bike and this scooter. GET THIS SCOOTER, you wont regret it!!!
