How can you tell if it's the real deal or subar? You really can't. Just have to trust the source.
For me, as a middle aged man, my facial appearance seems to be much younger looking or at the least maintaining a youthful appearance.
Of course I mix it with other homemade lotion and other times apply straight on my face.
To keep it from expiring and fresh, put the unused portion in the refrigerator. Keeps it fresh. Becomes like a weak milkshake consistency but still able to pour your portion into another container.
