Key features

  • Curved blade design, utilizes wind resource effectively and obtains a higher power generation.
  • Coreless generator, Horizontal rotation and aircraft wing design reduce the noise to an unperceivable level in natural environment.
  • Wind resistance. Horizontal rotation and triangular double fulcrum design make it only bear a small wind pressure even in strong wind.
  • Rotation radius. smaller rotation radius than other types of wind turbines, space is saved while efficiency improved.
  • Effective wind speed range. special control principle expended the wind speed to 2.5 ~ 25m/s, utilizes wind resource effectively and obtains a higher power generation.

Quality device lacking in documentation

I ordered two of these to put on top of my yacht in place of the two KVH domes I was removing. End result is an esthetically pleasing installation with (so far) minor power output.

With no reviews I took a chance in ordering these. So by adding a review I hope I can provide some information for potential buyers.

The generator has quality construction. Powder coated steel for the structural members. The generator spins smoothly and quietly and there's no lateral "sway" evident. The wind vanes are some form of plastic and are very light but feel solid. We replaced all the included nuts and bolt with stainless versions to minimize the risk of rust.

Installation was straight forward. Three wire conductor between the generators and the MPPT, two wire conductor between the MPPT and the battery. We added a power breaker between the battery and MPPT and a 3-pole 3-way rotary switch between the MPPT and the generator. The switch allows us to switch between pass through (for normal operation), break (for freewheel), and short (for braking) depending upon the scenario. I'll switch to "short" if I'm anticipating a high wind event (aka gale or hurricane) and "break" if I'm plugged into shore power but want some spin for show.

Documentation on the MPPT is sparse, but they lare auto-sensing for battery voltage and current acceptance. No way of setting bulk, absorption, and float settings. I'm assuming they've been set for lead-acid, which are close enough to AGM that I'm not going to worry. I wouldn't think about using these for Lithium batteries, though.

We've had a very calm few days since the installation was completed, so I've not been able to really check output. I'll update this review once I've some better numbers to add.

Edit To Add:

So I've now had a chance to run with these for about a month since bringing the boat out of her winter slumber. The three way switch allowing to short/open/passthru works well though DO NOT choose open in any winds above 10 knots. I thought they were going to fly off, they span so fast! The blades are reversible, so I intend to switch them on one of the generators to give a "grinder" effect.

So far, I'm not convinced I'm getting any energy out of them. I have the output of the MPPT controllers passing through a couple of Victron SmartShunts and they have consistently shown 0 amps. Having said that, the power draw of the boat at night seems to be less than it should (at anchor). I do think that during the day the solar raises the battery voltage above the point that the wind generator will charge. The supplied controllers have no documentation or settings, so who knows? Thinking about spending more money on some better charge controllers- maybe even ones with load dissipation capability.
