You really need to practice with the spray patterns before you put in paint. Otherwise you may find yourself using gobs of paint. However, once you get everything adjusted, painting is fast and easy.

overall, i like this product and used it to paint 20 large shutters with movable louvers from our 150 year old farmhouse using latex enamel. also painted some old furniture. the sprayer made the work easier and gave a satisfactory finish, though some back-brushing was required.
overall, a quality product and value for the money. but the biggest problem is that the unit is not stable on the bench or on the ground. it is prone to tipping if disturbed. i glued a plywood base to the bottom of the gun, and that pretty much solved the problem.
tip:
- when possible, filter latex paint using a painter's filter bag.
- latex paints (especially enamels and when used outdoors) will dry at the tip and close the orifice. keep an old tooth brush and water handy to clean the buildup as it accumulates from the outside of the tip.
- every refill, remove the orifice and clean the three piece assembly. purge the pressure before removing the orifice assembly by loosening the cup.
would be nice for the manufacturer to provide a screw on cap for the cup.

UPDATE: I still get nice finishes, but the unit tends to stop spraying every now and then. Fortunately the overall finish is still nice, but this is a minor annoyance.

I'd been using an HVLP sprayer with an air compressor for finishing wood projects with lacquer, and I could only rarely get a nice, smooth finish. There were drips, a lot of overspray, and a lot of orange peel. I decided to try a different method, so I picked up this little sprayer for way less than I expected. My expectations were rather low for such a low priced unit, but I am overwhelmingly pleased with how well this sprayer works. I use full strength lacquer without thinning, and I get a really nice, even, smooth finish with very little effort and very little overspray. It's also much quieter than my air compressor, which is a bonus. I have no doubt that this sprayer would work very well for paint, but the small size of the reservoir means it would need to be refilled very often. I would not buy this product for painting entire rooms, but for small projects, it is probably ideal. Highly recommended.
