This is an amazing gadget, if your dog or cat is sensitive. And frankly, if they are sensitive, you won't need it. Here is my story.

There is a psychotic French Bull Dog (FBD) that lives in the house behind mine, our back yards separated by a fence that is barely standing at this point. The FBD has a "thing" for my 3 German Shepherds. This FBD sits at the fence line watching and barking, even if my dogs are not outside. If not at the fence, he is on the deck, barking at my back yard. My dogs, while not angels in the least, are trainable, and have pretty good recall when they finally succumb to the incessant barking. I was so excited when I found this, I paid extra to get it here RIGHT AWAY! The day it came felt like the happiest day of my life. I took it out of its box and admired it. I read the instructions, several times. Note that when they say it does affect all animals in the vicinity, they are not kidding. I decided to try it when my two females got in a pissing match over who was head bitch. One tap of the Deterrent button and the girls split apart, not sure why they felt compelled to do so. My grey floof cat, who had been sitting on the counter, almost behind me, fled the room, clearing everything off the counter in the processes. At the time I thought, meh...cats. Their weird. Later that night, the girls got into it again and I tapped the button. The girls broke it up, and the gray floof, who was on my chest, left skid marks leaving the room. I realized then she was sensitive, and I would not be able to use it anywhere near her. I had hope that it would stop the FBD since it worked wonders on the two dogs with barely activating the sound/lights. The next day I had my chance to use it for it's intended purpose. The FBD was barking away at the fence. My dogs ran to the fence and began barking back, which I did not stop. I wanted to make sure I was close enough to the FBD for him to hear the sonic "boom". I walked right up on them in their frenzy, tapped the button and said, "leave it." My dogs immediately stopped barking and left the area. The FBD kept on barking. We were a foot apart. I pointed it right at him and hit the button again. He didn't stop barking. Instead, he stared at me defiantly, planting his feel firmly into the ground, and continued to bark while making eye contact. Very much a defiant toddler but not nearly as cute. I decided to go all in, knowing the device shuts off after one minute of continuous activation. I held that button down. It became a game of wills. But the longer I held the button, the louder he got. It had zero effect on him. As for my dogs, they now think the remote control is the device so if I need to get their attention, I pick up the tv remote. As for the floof, I think she exploded.

In summary, for GSD and cats, this is an amazing device and works better than expected. For psychotic French bull dogs....no such luck.
I AM SO GLAD THIS ACTUALLY WORKED

Before explaining why I am satisfied, here is a bit of context:

I don't like to exaggerate, but before deciding to buy this item, I searched through MANY options (at least 30 or 50 products and blogs), trying to find a solution to my problem. I work remotely and a good part of my job requires call handling, which of course implies that I have to be in a quiet environment with silence, but that is difficult to achieve when your neighbors have a very annoying dog.

We (my neighbors and I) live on the top floor of the building and therefore we are just below the roof, which is kind of a shared area, so since they seem lazy to take the dog for a walk (or maybe they just don't care much about the dog), prefer to leave it alone on the roof for several hours during the day. This dog is very aggressive and stubborn, he likes to bark at everything that moves or sounds near him, so well, you can imagine. I first tried, of course, to politely ask them to monitor their dog, either by being there with him while he was on the roof (because they leave him there alone unsupervised) or walking his dog like any other member of the building in the vicinity or just somehow train your dog to stop barking at EVERYTHING.

Well, they barely cooperated so I was getting very angry and starting to have bad ideas crossing my mind due to other people's suggestions, but I didn't want to take a violent or vindictive approach. Then one day, I had a beautiful God-sent epiphany about the use of ultrasound whistles. I thought to myself "WOW, THIS IS IT!" it is discreet, basically harmless, cheap and practical. Well after all my research I decided to give this a try and am happy with the results.

Finally, I want to give some advice:

+ Do not use it carelessly just to annoy the dog, it might get used to it and start to ignore the device, only use it when it is barking / having bad behavior. Therefore, do not press the button for more than 2-3 seconds so that it acts more like a trigger or signal than normal sound.
+ Combine the use of the tool with some kind of directive like "No!" or "Shhh" so the dog could associate it with the sound or unpleasant experience and then work later, even without a tool.
+ This works best with 2-4 meters away.
+ Large dogs may be more resistant to obedience and more dangerous. Remember that this is an annoying tool for them, make sure you have some kind of barrier between you and the dog (if it's not yours).
+ Stick with the "train mode" button for as long as you can. Deterrent mode should only be used for emergencies or extreme cases.

Well hope this long review helps someone. I never write this kind of thing, but this device really helped me, so I wanted to express my gratitude.
Works well, but more detailed info would be useful.

I have had the Dog Care Ultrasonic device for about ten days now, and so far, so good. It's portable, easy to use, and definitely gets my dog's attention. It is more effective (thus far) at deterring barking than the bark-activated shock collar we have been using--I suspect this is so because we control the device, so we are able to associate its use with commands. It also appears to be less irritating to our pup than the aforementioned collar.
I think a bit more detail and situational examples of how to most effectively use this device would be helpful and inspire more confidence in knowing that we were employing best practices. The accompanying instructions are simple and straightforward, but we find ourselves uncertain as to whether we are missing techniques that might make it more effective. It would be especially useful to know how and when to transition from use of the device to simple voice commands so we can ween ourselves and our dog from "in training" to "trained." That should be the objective of any training device or methodology, I believe.
Great alternative to bark collar...2 paws up!

My little fur-monster detests wearing a bark collar, so I had to find another solution to curb his tendency to bark...every time someone made a noise outside. Every. Single. Time. This little device is just about the awesome-est invention ever, all I have to do is point it and press the 'deter' button...and the barking is over. Its like a remote control for my dog, and I love it! I can't hear whatever dog-sound its emitting to stop his barking, but the flashing light tells me it's doing its thing. I am positive that this is far more bearable for us all, rather than Squiggy's barking or my barking louder for him to stop. There are other fun buttons to use, to assist in training...I havent gone there yet. But this little device pretty much stops my little fur-dude whenever he is up to no good. I just make sure to give him a treat and some kisses when he stops the bad behavior - and he is super happy. So am I. We have gotten to the point I just have to reach for the EDGE and he quiets down.. YAY! Its only been a few days, so im sure the barking in excess will be a thing of the past soon. Super happy with this purchase.
Super Impressed So Far!

So I didn't know I had an option other than a bark collar as a tool. I have only started using this as a training aid today. So far I am very impressed! I did test it to my ear first. It is audible if close to your ear. My dog was outside barking loudly at the neighbors (he's a mini-daschund, so this is an ongoing battle of the bark), I told him "no bark" and used the detterent button, and he immediately stopped and was startled. In the pet store he only had to see it in my hand to not bark! I will be using this very carefully, but I can't wait to see how helpful it can be. And I'm excited at the prospect of him not having to wear the bark collar as often. I can see how this could help if another dog is coming at you aggressively.---Edited to add----
I am so happy with this device. It has enabled me to wean my dog off of his shock collar completely! I actually rarely have to even press the button, because if he sees it in my hand, he usually quickly complies. It's helped tremendously with him chasing the cat. And I am hoping to use the train button more to quell some behaviors reacting to certain people in a negative barking way. I just cannot say enough good things about it though. As long as you know what you are doing and are clear with a command before the button is pressed, and a reward when they stop barking, or misbehaving, this can really work for training. I love my dog so much, and now day to day life with him is that much better.

Additionally, my friend Donna who also has a miniature dachshund, Miles, actually he is my dog's cousin, wanted to try this after hearing my success. So I helped her order it because she's not good with online ordering. She and her husband were pretty nervous about using it, because they do not want to hurt their dog. They could not bring themselves to use a shock collar. But their outdoor living was really hampered by Miles' barking at the neighbors through the fence. They finally gained the courage to try it. They gave the command, pressed the button, and he immediately stopped barking and they rewarded him. They see that this can really help. So again, as long as it's done properly, it really can work, even for these stubborn dachshunds!!!!!!
